Photos - 2nd Gathering at the Glyphs

Here are a few photos that we took on our very first teardrop gathering. Did not get many photos of the actual gathering or people that attended. But this is what I did get.

This is on the road overlooking Austin, NV.

The road entering the Hickison campground. This was only a few of the teardrops that attended. By my count there were 20 teardrops, 1 casita and 1 car camper. Had a wonderful time meeting everyone and of course ate way to much.

Great pics Dan!!!! Nice to meet you all and your new design is a winner.

What a great time! I'm sure to some it may look like it's really desolate....you're right...it is and it's just wonderful. Temps were in the upper 80's during the day and upper 40's at night. I slept with the door open every night, had some flying critters during the day and some moths at the lanterns at night, but nothing of the biting type. Stargazing was fantastic, 1 night a couple of fighters from Fallon were chasing each other around as well. Coyote's barking, some burros braying, and best of all....no raccoons!

We pretty much took over the campground, had a couple in a little guy drive through from Co. to check us all out. They had met the caravan on the way there.

Lots of incredible eats for sure! Shrimp, prime rib, waffles, Mt. man breakfast, Coal miners breakfast, enchilada casserole, Jambalaya were among some of the entrees...sorry but I can't remember all the others right now. Grant whipped up some great flapjacks this morning with his "secret ingredients". Lots of cooked pork products for breakfast as well. Jerome and Delores made their renowned "dutch oven cookies" and Kevin/ Jerry and Donna had some of their own as well. Plenty of Moose Drool, only took me 2 sips and I bailed and got road rash on a leg when moving the trailer in the dark.

Some made a late night trip to the hot springs. Access was complicated as some people were camped at several of the springs outlets.

Several of us found a secluded place to go and do some damage to a full sized Pirate cut out of Johnny Depp. We had our own "burning man" that evening. We ran through almost 200 rounds of 9MM and 22. A few .38's finally finished off Johnny. We also scared a number of aluminum cans as well.

A highlight for me was to find the black jack table that I used to sit at back in 1977 that was in Claras in the museum. All the original signage regarding the rules that were posted were there as well. It still had the funky old dirty shag carpeting on the base as well.

Jerome picked up some artillery wheels for a new build from Ray Saulsbury's junk yard, and Sue checked on the price of the little standy in his yard....1K...I thought it was a little steep, but she had a visit with him and he remembered her situation. He repaired her car back in the late 70's when she broke down in town and had to sit around for 4 days.

I'd go back there anytime for some camping. Talk about a place to get away from the crowds! This is it! Doug

Not much of a table...but it took my money!

Jack Sparrow...(Johnny Depp) finds he's outgunned against Joanne and a 9MM

Jerome rallied for "Talk like a Pirate day", had some good pirate jokes as well....Arghhhhhh!

Here's the scurvy band of cut-throats that did in Capt. Sparrow. No remorse they had for their underhanded doings. Arrrr, a sad lot all they all be!

Just so others know the situation. No firearms were visible in the campground at any time, and those involved in target practice were 18 miles away from the campsite when doing so. Care was taken to insure that no one was subjected to these activities or sounds that didn't want to participate. Doug

This is EXACTLY why I so wanted to be there... I love those high desert vistas and the vastness of it all...

Stargazing was fantastic, 1 night a couple of fighters from Fallon were chasing each other around as well.

I could sit and watch both of THOSE for awhile! The sheer performance of those jets is staggering! The stars, well, I geek out on those too.

Are YOU OK? Saw the axle stub broke off in your album. Any damage to the tow vehicle? Sorry about your bad luck.

John!

Was just now checking the posts about the gathering, and saw your picture(s)! What a tragedy, my Friend ... not a way to end such a nice weekend ... ...
Like everyone else, I'm hoping that you are O.K. and only suffering from the emotional trauma (which I hope subsides soon!).

Hang in there, and I know it may be too soon to even consider, but I hope you choose to build/re-build again and continue to join us at other Gatherings in the future! I know I'll be keeping good thoughts for you in that regard ...
