Went about 20 miles south for the chance at some iron. Got some of that but another score for $3 was this Coleman 502 stove with some seriously smelly fuel.

Not quite sure what I'll do with it. Don't exactly have the bug for the vintage stuff, sort of.

Hey Russ, great score on the stove, but where are the pics of the iron? 8)

Dude, the 'Cast Iron' section, silly.
I also scored a MSR Whisperlite backpacking stove. Owner said he couldn't get it to work. I attached a fuel bottle, it sputtered a bit but works just great.
$5. Not bad.
There you go...

Russ,
Let's see... You're in McKinleyville. You went 20 miles south. That should put you in Eureka. I live in Eureka.
About thirty-five or so years ago, I had a 502 and an aluminum case/pot and lid/skillet as pictured. I think I gave them away... In Eureka. Could it be?...

I hope you did... 'Cause for the the life of me, I have no idea who I gave it to, or if I sold it at a yard sale of my own. I just recently came to the conclusion that it was no longer with me, after tearing up my storage area in the shop looking for it.
I really doubt I'd have put my initials on the stove, but may have on the aluminum cover. (Used it extensivley in the Boy Scouts... Saved up S&H Green Stamps to buy it)

OK, now it sounds like you're being serious. I was not.
I don't know if this was a local acquisition by the PO but if you think there might be any distinguishing marks, have at it.
To be honest, I'm intrigued by the vintage but not so much as to want to rebuild. This will probably end up in the hands of a more appreciative host.

Maybe I gave it to my nephew?...
I can't think of anything I did to make a mark on it anywhere.
The only thing I remember about that stove is, I wasn't happy with it's output. (But most of my cooking with it was at high altitudes... Troop was into mountaineering at that time)
Does it still have the handle that's used for the skillet/pot?

I'm keeping my eye peeled for a Speedmaster.
