Screwing on trim through frame

Can I screw t he bottom wooden trim on through the frame from underneath the trailer to keep the screws hidden without weakening the trailer frame? I was going to drill holes through the frame and oak plywood siding from underneath, put silicone on the screws and screw into the trim appx. 6-8" O.C.

What size side members do you have on your chassis, and what size holes are you planning on drilling. Is it tubing or channel or angle iron?

Depends on the frame if small holes would weaken it.

I think screws through frame holes will let eventually let water wick into the plywood and the trim.

Could just epoxy the trim in place or counter sink screw holes on the outside of the trim if the plywood underneath the trim is thick enough to hold a screw and insert wood plugs into the countersink.

It is a Harbor Freight trailer with 2x2 3/4" c channel. I was going to use #8 s.s. screws but you are probably right. Countersinking them and plugging is the right thing to do.
