General Discussion about almost anything Teardrop or camping related

There was one that was just a 'tent' style doggie pull-out that somebody put in one of their doors, too but, I don't remember what thread its in. Maybe somebody will remember....?

"Junky rv fan".. lol.. I think that's what I have!! I wanted the Fantastic fan but think its that one instead. I should look in to that.

My dog sleep in car? lol... Nope. He's my little man shadow. He sleeps in the bed with me, under the cover half the time, up agaisnt my leg and has a panic attack when he's not by my side. Nope.. sadly sleeping in the car is not an option. Here's the pic of the side tent I was thinking of... Image

Ok, I'm special and can't seem to post the pic. I just added it to my album.

That's exminnesotaboy's teardrop. We checked that out at Crawford State Park gathering. Kathy sewed that for their dog. I thought somewhere in the past she had posted a closer view of it but I can't find it in their album or site.

Could you consider adding two windows or one large in the front? What you describe is exactly why I wanted more air and light and went with front windows in my build.

Barb,

This thread is a year old... Rileydog abandon us, probably found a better forum.

I will send her her an email and will ask if she could come back and tell up how the story ended.

You all realize a course that Chris hasn’t been on the board/forum in about a year now.

I can't wait to see the responces to this.

Boy Steve, talk about two people thinking a like. I may see Chris in Dec. Eddie may know, but he has his own troubles right now.

EDIT:

Oh well just realized how old this was but since I spent all that time typing I'll leave it in case someone else has the same problem.

My wife is claustrophobic. Sometimes we get out of elevators if too many people get on. When we first got our T@B I thought she would have a problem with it but she likes it a lot now.

My little myPOD is a different thing. It is 4 x 8 x 4. Since I have no galley we do have a full eight foot bed (still with cabinets above). It also only has one door. I had the builder put an extra large window on the side opposite the door. With it and the small window on the door side and the round window in the door I have only had one time that I had a problem and I think that was actually due to a small panic attach that I had. I have spent between 30 and forty nights in it since I got it at the end of January.

I knew my wife would have a problem with it. She has only spent 3 nights in it and both times we also had the two Shih Tzus with us. I set up a tent outside(with porta potty) for her just in case. The last time we tried it together at about 2 am she woke me up as she was crawling over me saying "I'm going to the tent and I'm not coming back!"

If I didn't have the T@B with kingsize bed I would definitely have gotten a 5 or 6 wide!

Here's the T@B:

Good luck with the problem.

Sounds like all of the ideas above have merit. You might want to try sleeping in a tear with bigger windows, just to see if that helps, or one that has off-gassed all the smells from construction.

If I were treating you at the office, we would start by constructing a hierarchy of feared stimuli, and begin with the least threatening one. We would have you perhaps spend some time relaxing in a larger travel trailer, then a slightly smaller one and so forth.

Sounds like being in your tear with the door open in daytime is okay, but what about at dusk or at night with the door open? If you can relax with the door open and sleep (here's where you need a side tent--we got the Coleman beach shelter for around $50 and that nestles up against the tear and it's possible to sleep with the door open on that side and still have a bit of privacy) that's good. Then once you get comfortable with that, try it with the door ajar, then with the door shut and the window open, etc.

Of course it might be simpler to get bigger windows, take Tylenol p.m., etc. Getting a better mattress or changing the sheets might help. Or making it up like your bed at home instead of using a sleeping bag (if you are).

I find this really interesting. I have very mild claustrophobia. Oddly, the last time I felt it was at Cabela's which isn't exactly a tiny place. I find the teardrop comforting, like a return to the womb. In fact, when I can't sleep at home, I visualize being in the teardrop. Maybe when you're having trouble falling asleep in the camper, you could visualize sleeping in your own bed.

:D

That's funny..... The one store I refuse to go in is Ikea..... They have you walking around like a rat in a maze. I had an attack in there when I was on the second floor with no quick exit. Poor salesgirl probably still remembers a crazy old man screaming at her to get him out.......

I'm not claustrophobic at all but I will never go back to IKEA. God forbid a fire break out in there! I thought I was going to throw up trying to get out of that "rat maze"! Never again...

If your feet are at the door try swapping. Put your head at the door and leave it open into a SUV tent like Madjack said. Also leave a dim light on in the tent.

Those are teeny tiny windows, they would give me problems and I don't have a problem with tight confined spaces. Easy suggestion to try first make screen doors using screening and velcro or for a trial just tape it in place. The next step if that works would be a window ectomy and put in some serious glass inserts with screens. The third possibility is a seriously larger vent/skylight. They make them for escape at 26X26"
Fans, I will have pictures shortly of my efforts to install two computer case fans (quiet and adjustable) in an opening meant for a fantastic fan, it is a different set up from the previous trailer.

Going Mental

Postby Engineer Guy » Thu May 12, 2011 11:11 pm

I got claustrophic late in Life. First CAT Scan in a VERY tight-fit Machine in 1990; no problem. Most recent one a few years ago re: a torn Rotator Cuff - total freakout. Had to get out in 45 seconds. About 20% of folks react that way, I was told. Others require 'downer' Drugs. Researched, and got booked into, a more 'open' design of CAT Machine. I could tilt my Head WAY back and see some light coming in. The more 'open' Machines are not as powerful. But, innards that need higher power/resolution weren't being scanned.

I also freaked in a lil Italian Elevator. You had to hold in the Floor Button, or else it stopped and all lights went out. It was only between 2 Floors in a pal's Restaurant, but that was the first sign of freaking out as I age.

I kept several pairs of 'blackout' Eyeshades from Int'l Flights. What you can't see doesn't freak you out [perhaps]. Keeping my Eyes closed is what helped the most during the 2nd CAT Scan.

Having good/trained Ears, I could also 'hear' how close the CAT Machine surfaces were, Bat-style. As the Air was pushed through the Machine, it provided 'no' echo vs., say, a Family Room setting. Not good for me.

Good luck. This could be a tough one if 'mechanical' solutions like Windows only help a little.
