Colorado (serious "teardrop-aholic") newbie

Postby jabber35 » Tue Oct 13, 2009 12:22 pm

So... I've welded, wired, tiled, plumbed, cabineted, framed, trimmed, concreted, decked, drywalled, glassed, hardwooded, insulated, roofed, landscaped, fenced, excavated, sided, piped, painted, stained..... So, I was trying to think of a way to simply say, "I've built a lot of things, man"(-johnny cash RIP). But... holy cow! I've got the "T1D1- teardrop fever" (stab at humor there). This project has consumed me like none other (not that that's a good thing... actually, I should talk about that with my therapist today) anyway, I degress... Now, I'm not saying I've done all these things well and man I've got a lot to learn. That's why when I came upon this forum I was so thrilled! Until, I found out that the general consensus here is to build 5 foot wide after having mine completely glued up at 4 feet... live and learn, don't we. Anyway, I'm glad to have found this community and look forward to journeying with you all... Thanks!

Jabber35,
Yes everyone will agree with you. When you start a build it consumes you every waking thought. Lol. Sure does get under your skin.
Enjoy the build,
Bill and Marijo
Hope to see you on the road.

Shower???

Postby DarylinB » Wed Oct 14, 2009 3:11 pm

WOW, a shower too. Great idea, I hadn't thought of that. More for the wife to agree to. I guess you just hook up to the water supply and go for it. Do you have an instant hot water heater too or just cold? I'm not sure how the HW heaters work or what kind of power is needed. 120V ?? I haven't started my build yet so I'm just putting together everyone elses ideas and mistakes. Mine will be like the other Johnny Cash song about his Caddy with all the different years parts.

Darylin; like this

It runs on 6V but I've ditched the pump and battery box and plumbed it into the trailer's water and propane system

Our TD has a 6gal Surburban gas electric water heater and an external shower as well as a conventional sprayer faucet at the sink, I am thinking of putting fittings on the tubular aluminum frame and using it for H2O, should be and additional 12 gallons.

Hay jabber35,

That tankless waterheater is pretty neat. I looked at those for our new house and they were close to $1500 plus installation. If you do get one of those, let us know how well it works. Thanks for posting.
