Are you using the two part stopper? If so, you might try the one piece.

I know!!! All tissues are now Kleenexs!!

I have the one stopper bottle. I do preheat it but shouldn't a good insulated bottle not feel warm to the touch on the outside? Isn't there something more ...I don't know... industrial? Or maybe for backpackers?

I think there's a problem with your Stanley.

My wife carries a Stanley soup thermos (vacuum bottle) to work every day. It is primed in the morning at about 5:30. The soup is also heated completely. The two are combined and left until she is able to get to it at noon. She has burnt her mouth on the soup at lunch.

I carry a Stanley to work every day. Once again, it's primed with boiling water for about five or ten minutes (or however long until I get back to it in the morning). I then pour the hot coffee in. It's hot all day until I have my last cup at about 2:00 or so in the afternoon. There's steam coming off my last cup.

If I were to guess, I'd say there is a defect and Stanley has been good to me in terms of replacement.

...gotta agree with the BigDawg here...we go hunting in some mighty cool weather and take two Stanleys...we use the one with the two part stopper first since it cools faster BUT when we get to the second one with the single piece stopper around noon it is HOT and will remain so thru the afternoon into that night...your Stanley should not get hot to the touch, there is something wrong with it...get a new one and be happy(and warm)..........

I'm awful about keeping mine. If the store from which you bought it won't take it back without a receipt, get with Stanley. Their customer serivce is really good. You'll become a fan too.

Let us know how this turns out.

I have a hot pink Stanley from Target. Bought it for the cute factor (and because I used to work in the Building Official's office, and I knew it would annoy the big, bad inspectors and contractors), and I have to say, that little thing works great...hot chocolate stays piping hot well into the afternoon. Love it. Odd that you've not had luck with yours.

I too have a Stanley steel, dated 3/76, and it will keep coffee hot all day. It looks like hell, but still works like new 8)

Do these Stanleys have the glass vacum insert? Or are they plasstic, or steel? I always found the glass was much better..... :)

It sounds like a vacuum leak - check for your reciepts and maybe get an exhange.

John, Stanley's have a SS liner and are close to indestrutable...I have had one fall off a third story, hit the asphalt and work and had the same one roll out the door of an 18 wheeler, bounce off the step and hit the ground...a couple of times and it will still keep coffee hot all day long...you won't get that kinda service outta a glass lined thermos.....
