No tears for me.

Hi all... My name is Dennis and I live in the San Francisco Bay Area. I'm a Teardrop builder and owner wannabe. I have been reading all the stuff on the T&TTT pages and was ellated when I saw there was going to be a T&TTT gathering at Coloma. I needed to go to Sacramento to check out a flatbed trailer anyway so I thought the drive up the hill to Coloma would be worthwhile to see some of the Teardrops close up. But when I got to the Coloma Resort there were a lot of great TTT but not one Teardrop. I was really bummed not being able to see all the great work done by some of you on these pages. The only redeaming quality was seeing the vintage TTT and the great classic cars that were towing them.

I guess I will just have to continue to read the pages until I get another chance to see Tears close up.

Keep up the good work all. I hope be be able to post some of the pictures when I find a trailer and start my build.

Yup...Coloma is pretty much vintage trailers. Several years ago I was invited to attend, but when I told the person that I was talking to that I don't have a "vintage" tear/trailer, but a newly built one, it was subtly suggested that this might not be the gathering for me. I can't remember if it was the fall gathering or the one that happens earlier in the year...at any rate...the next BIG tear thing out here happens at Antlers on Lake Shasta first weekend of May...should be like 70+ tears. It's a great time! ...last year we did have some inclement weather however, but plenty of us stuck it out. There is a big group of us Nor Cal teardroppers. 2 weeks ago, a gathering up at Ocean Cove had quite a number...at least 14 more than at Coloma. Doug

PS Welcome aboard...read, learn, ask questions...most importantly, have fun!

 The thing about the Coloma Rally is most are snobs. The thing about that is I know and is friends with maybe half of them. What a lot of teardropers don't know is 3 (maybe 4) of them will be at the Dam Gathering at Shasta because they also own teardrops.

It's a mixed up world we live in. Ain't it great. Welcome aboard Dennis.

Didn't get the trailer.

Postby N6NG » Sun Oct 18, 2009 5:24 pm

Turned out that the trailer was a boat trailer that he had put a box on top so he thought it was a flatbed because the box was flat. He also thought the length was from the hitch to the back of the trailer so what he said was 10 feet, turned out to be about 7'. So I passed... still looking... I hope to find one and work on it this winter and maybe make the May meeting at Shasta... be a great place to show off my newly finished TD.

7' is about right for a TD if your going to build a 4' x 8'. Were the side rails 4' apart? Sounds like a workable frame if the price is right.
