HTT to a Cargo trailer for tent camping! I'm new here!

Postby WTW » Fri Oct 16, 2009 9:07 pm

New to this forum, all your stuff looks so very fun. I have a great wife and 2 daughters, 8 and 9 yrs old. We have a 25ft hybrid RV that makes 31ft when bed is deployed. We only camp approx 6 times a year, winter in Florida, so the HTT seems to be over kill and $$'s. Putting up for sale. We are looking to start tent camping. The down side of tenting for us, is getting all the stuff together and sleeping on the ground. Thus the reason I am here! We think we would like to custom a small cargo trailer w/ a cook area offf the back and store all the camping supplies, and fire wood and bikes inside th cargo trailer. Thus having all the camping gear ready to go year round as we have had w/ the HTT. Any thoughts are welcome on helping us thru the journey. I'll be posting soon on the Cargo Trailer convertion site, with questions. thanks for having this great site for info...Tomm

Welcome to the forum Tomm...

Small cargo trailer eh? We have a number of cargo trailer owners here, they should be along shortly...

I like the idea of camping vs rving... and the cargo will get you closer to camping..

Cargo can also be a refuge in dire weather.

Hello Tomm and Welcome. :)

A C.T. to carry all your camping gear and act as a kitchen as well is a great idea. If I were to continue to camp in a tent, I would do the same as you. The reason I went with a C.T. for camping in is I got tired of sleeping on the ground in a tent and being at the mercy of mother nature.

There are a lot of great ideas here on this forum from some really helpful people.

Good luck!

Welcome Tomm,

I think this is what you need. Yes this one is to sleep in but you can leave the inside open for all your goodies.
