I was wondering why the water balloon was getting bigger... and then it hit me.

Tell Judith thank you for being so sympathetic to my brain-phart. I'm a little more likely to laugh at it now, too. Wish y'all were going to make it (so I could splash you with a mud puddle!).

wellllll, I just got off the phone with RangerDavid...not real good...all even numbered sites between 32-50 have water upto or on the decks...there are a few up on the front side in the same shape as well...the road into the campground loop is under water at the dip just past the playground...water is continuing to rise and is expected to crest Tues morn and start falling...anyone with a Wed reservation, should be getting a call from the reservations people, canceling your reservation...open/closed will be a daily call by the park depending on water conditions...that's the bad news!!!!

...now for the good news...DON'T YOU DARE THINK ABOUT CANCELING...I have talked with RangerDavid about this and we have contingency plans...the party will go on...the main thing to hope for is the ater to go down off the roadway...once off the road, the whole campground loop should be open...if the lower sites, including the party sites are unusable, we will all move up to the rally area and have a big ol group camp...so cheer up, there are silver linings to the clouds and we will make this happen!!!!!!!!

And there is also the usual contingency plan--we all camp in the nearest Wal-Mart parking lot!

camping

Postby doitright » Mon Oct 19, 2009 1:05 pm

Hey if some spots are closed will we be allowed to triple up? I have no need for elec. but would like to be close without having to mud ride, swim, or paddle to the party pond.

We are coming unless the bridge over the Mississippi falls in.

Like the big banks and General Motors, LCG is too big to fail.

I am checking the weather twice-a-day, and it looks like, at the worst, we'll have one day with a chance of rain -- Thursday.

Nobody go and tempt the rain gods by washing your car!!!

Oh, and load your tow vehicle up with all kinds of rain gear. So much rain gear that you are prepared for a typhoon. So much rain gear that it will be in your way all weekend.

That way, it won't rain.

Damn, I just washed my car during lunch. Oh well, maybe the rain gods will be tempted to mess up my car BEFORE we leave. :worship:

And since I lost my week of prep time, my trailer will be covered with dust and dirt--I won't wash it before the trip.

For those who are interested, here is a link to the NWS river hydrologic info page for Lake Bistineau. Check back often to see updated lake levels. http://ahps.srh.noaa.gov/ahps2/hydrograph.php?wfo=shv&gage=lbul1&view=1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1&toggles=10,7,8,2,9,15,6&type=2

Per their predictions, the level will rise and won't crest until Saturday or Sunday.

I bet CD is going to be pulling his trailer into my site each nite after I've gone to sleep.
