Howdy, my wife and I are wanting to build a TTT, we both like the Lil Diner style but want to adapt it to suit our individual needs. I think I'll probably use a lot more tube steel in the build of it because my metal working skills are a lot greater than my wood working skills are. Kind of play to your strengths :D So I was wondering where do you go to buy things like doors and windows that are sized appropriately for a TTT?

Good Luck on your build,

First of all, welcome to the madness, the only cure is to finnish your build and to get out camping, But then that leads to new ideas and then the 2nd build......best of luck

As to material sources one of the first places to check is at the top of every page on the site

click on the link for: "sdtrippers2 Index" an excellent resource for most every step of your build and if you come up with something new "Post It" and Steve will add it to the list.

again welcome

thanks, that index is exactly what I'm talking about. My wife has already mentioned building the next one as well, she wants the first one to be kind of boxy whilst I prefer a more trad shape. One of the things we're thinking about is to make the roof like a convertible top. Our inspiration for this is the roof on the Citroen 2CV, we had one when we lived in England and it worked well. The use of steel tubing will give the required strength to make this work. I'm a mechanical engineer and have built a couple of Lotus sevens in the past so I'm confident I can make something that will be structurally sound.
