That brings back good memories. When my husband and I first got married that is all we cooked our steaks/burgers/h.dogs on. We wore them out. The good ones like you got are harder to find. Nice score!

We had something like that in college. We'd cook on the fire escape, the campus security would come and tell us to put it out, we'd "put it out" for a few minutes and then continue cooking dinner.

Ah, good times.

Man oh man, when I was a kid you could buy those or cheap knock-off's all over the place. I remember seeing them at the pharmacy/drug store, Woolworth's, Kmart, places like that. We had several. Inevitably, they would get left out in the rain for an extended time and rust away, my folks would throw them away and get another one. One of those items that was everywhere then, and seldom seen now...

I had a double one about 20 years ago. Left it out in the rain. Recently, that is what I had in mind when looking for an hibachi. Couldn't find one so got the Lodge grill.

I still have and sometimes use a double one. I bought it back in the mid-sixties-still in great shape.

I just spotted a double hibachi in the Vermont Country Store catalog. Not $7 though.

Here's something I'm keeping an eye out for...
Image
It's a mini hibachi, used for grilling or reheating hors devours.
It's tiny, real tiny and is meant to sit in the middle of a circular hors devours platter.
Joanie & I ate at an oriental restaurant that used them...
Would be a cool addition to have while camping.
