New guy from Kansas

Hi, everyone. I've been lurk...uh, I mean researching here for a few weeks and thought I'd better sign up.
My wife and I bought a well-used 59 Mobile Scout Saturday. I'm not sure that it qualifies a TTT at 17' (including the hitch), but there seems to be a lot of good info on this site that I can use to rebuild it. This camper will require a frame up rebuilding/renovation.
This is my first camper project, but I've done construction, woodworking and metal fabrication in the past, so I'm confident that I can do it. (And I have lots of tools.) I don't have a shop large enough to put the camper inside, so I'll probaby do the deconstruction this fall, then button it up until next spring.

Welcome to the forum Pete. Let's see 17' with the hitch the tongue is probably 3' that means a 14' cabin sure you fit some of us are playing with 14' designs right now. Besides as far as I'm concerned it's not the size that counts it's what you do with it. Are you gona sit inside all day or get out and have fun with the rest of us crazies.

Thanks, Gary. You're right about the cabin size, it's 14' 6" on the outside. Info seems to be scarce on that year and on Mobile Scout in general. All I've been able to find is a picture of an advertisement for the '59. This one is kind of interesting in that it has a hot water heater and a toilet/shower combo. The shower walls are aluminum.
This is going to be a renovation, not a restore. When we camp, we do spend most of our time outside with the "crazies." So when we rebuild, it will end up being a nice but basic bed and bath. We plan to leave most of the appliances out since we like to cook outside. We do plan to use the shower stall, though, but without the current toilet. Here are some photos.

Hey Pete ! Welcome... to the North Central but the South Central would love to have you camp with us too .

A ton of us are going to the annual Louisiana Cypresswood Gathering this week/weekend so you'll get a lot more welcomes after that.

Pete looks like you have a good start there. Can't wait to see it at a gathering. Should be some next spring and you gotta make Lcg it's a blast. We're on the way home from it now.

I think a gathering would be a blast to attend. I'm hoping I can get it done by next Spring.
