Postby trailtrekerNJ » Mon Oct 26, 2009 6:12 pm

It is with sweet sorrow that I place my tear drop up for sale.
It is not that I am leaving the life style or the forum.....
It is that I am up-grading to a larger style unit.

FOR SALE -
2008 Little Guy 5-Wide with platform.
Spare tire with mount.
Front tongue storage box.
No electronics.
You can seel pictures of unit in my photo album.
Unit has been kept covered when not in use, cover goes also.
No idea what unit goes for....suggestions / offers?

Purchasing a Mega-Mini Teardrop.
I think I added a picture to this letter.
If not I posted three to my album.

Congratulations on a great choice, we love ours.
I was talking to Eric at Eye4Design and he said he is becoming swamped. We will be trading in #1 for #7 MM with lots of added goodies, (they are starting on it this week).
Do not hesitate to ask for what you would like, they enjoy a challenge and no two MM's are the same ;)

Shadow Catcher,

I guess now would be a good time to place my order, allowing for the winter months to be built and ready for summer?
You stated that they are getting swamped with orders.....do you think they can handle the work or will they start cutting corners?
What are your experiences with road handling?
If you don't mind why are you trading in and going for another?
Is it defects to the first unit or are upgrading / adding features?
I was originally looking at the economy model and using my gear from the Little Guy. However I'm thinking I may as well get all the amenities I may want in the future and have the dealer install them while its open / being built and then look neat.
I'm looking at the five-wide with convience, sight & sound & comfort packages and adding on the awning & spare tire.
Possible add the 24" front storage rack. Do you know if this adds length to the frame? Not really looking to add to the overall length.
How about the diamond plate front stone guard? I'm not looking to pimp out my ride or bulk up the price, but if it protects the front end/value I guess I would go with it.

When we picked up #1 you could tell it was kind of hard for them to let it go out the door, a lot of pride in what they had produced. They asked us for feed back and the present product is largely the result of that feed back. This includes two doors and the single rear hatch. And it also includes little things like the front inside cabinets open from the center out and are difficult to load from outside the trailer, and this was just something they had not thought of and Nancy had. The clock which hangs over your head ticks ours will have an atomic clock with indoor and out door temperature.

They had followed the grasshopper design quite exactly, including the three doors in the rear (they get in the way a lot and make it more difficult to get things out) and a single side door (crawl over the partner to make the midnight trip to the potty), except in modern material usage and they added a water heater. Eric when he was looking at tears, because they had faucets assumed they had hot water and put one in. As far as I have been able to find out this is the only commercial tear with that feature. And quite frankly this is THE one greatest feather according to Nancy. It speeds clean up exponentially and this was always one of the biggest most labor intensive chores she had when we tent camped.

There were a number of things that did not work well, the internal TV antenna is useless the struts holding up the galley hatch were too weak, we had a problem with one of the band clamps on the hose/plumbing, the fuse box was in the headboard and a royal pain in the ass to get to. We could have lived with these and fixed the flaws but Eric offered to build us a new one (there is some additional money involved, but not a lot).

What the new one will have.

Shadow Catcher,

If you do offer a kit, let me know, I'm interested. I've got my axle with a 22.5 degree up starting angle, though. Don't know if this would work with your air shock.

When we have some results I will let folks know. There are three holes on the bottom bracket that allow some positioning along the length of the arm. From the published numbers it looks like it should work.
