Any Canoe and Kayakers in the group?? Arkansas Gathering?

Postby madprinter » Sat Oct 31, 2009 6:22 pm

I know its a bit cold outside right now, but I'm trying to plan ahead for the spring. Anyone else like to camp and canoe Arkansas rivers? we've been to the Bufalo and Caddo. Looking forward to checking out some of the other great rivers in Arkansas when the weather permits. A Bufalo River gathering would be awsome. Thought I'd throw this out and see if there is any interest with any of you. Maybe we could plan something. So far I havent been to any of the gatherings due to work, and more work. Hate I couldnt make it to LCG, and it was so close to where I live  . We look forward to meeting the group at some of the upcoming gatherings.

I've been known to "yak" a time or two! I've never heard of this place, it sounds awesome!

Can't commit to anything now, but thanks for helping me learn about a cool new place to visit!

This is a couple of the places I've stayed and cannoed.
Both were fun places to camp and canoe.
Im definately open to some of the other camp areas on the many canoe rivers in Arkansas. Maybe some of our members from the state can tell us a little more about the best areas. Arkansas is such a beautiful state.
Im sure we need to plan early as the best spots probly fill up quickly.

PS, no need to have a canoe, they have rentals and shuttle service at all areas. No skills needed either if you've never been before. Just go with the flow.

Keep the North Central bunch apprised of any plans. I'm sure a few of use from KS/MO/OK would attend.

Great idea N523RV. I posted a link to both North Central and Southeast forums.

Just to show you how "Nuts" we are. We asked for and got a canoe for a wedding present!

It hauls nicely on our jeep which pulls our tear drop!!!

My husband recently made a cargo frame for the jeep with hauling-the-canoe-on-it in mind with the design!

I'm taking a poll on dates and exact location. I don't want to interfear with the Bever Bend weekend, or any other gathering.
Pauld3, that sounds like a cool wedding gift. Something both of you will enjoy for many years. I also built a rack for my truck.

Buffalo Point is a really nice campground and there are plenty of outfitters nearby for rentals and shuttles.

Or you could use Moore Outdoors on the Big Piney. Several campgrounds nearby and they have a primitive one onsite.
