Got it primed and in paint today, coupler is bolted on, and safety chain loops welded up. Good thing that Steve E came by as it had to be flipped 3 times to get both sides in primer and paint. I used an Alkyd enamel on the frame. Cheaper than the acrylic, and the color match is close enough for the frame. It was able to be handled in about 2 hours to set it on the floor, slide the axle in and get it up on wheels.

I welded on the cap plate where the jack mounts and laid in a really nice weld. Just for grins, since so many people see that...I did the Boyd Coddington treatment and smoothed it out with some bondo. I"ll probably deck the front with some aluminum treadbright. I've been dragging a bunch of it around for years...gotta use it up.

Now I can start laying out the floor on it...picked up all the materials the other day and I've got some stuff laying around that will be "recycled"...never thought I'd say that! Doug

Thanks Mike...this one actually got a pencil cad drawing to scale since this is my first standy frame. It's a modified Scotty design, sent it to Andrew for his educated eye to check it out.

Jeremy....should get going on the floor Fri. night, and at least get the flooring splined and epoxied up into 1 large sheet. Hopefully I'll get it cut up and partially installed next weekend. After all....the IRG is next July ya know! Doug

Mike,

I don't paint, and really don't like being involved with a shovel, rake or hoe.

Bondo on my welds wouldn't be a bad thing

You bring up a good point Jim. Bondo will hide a ton of crappy welding, and I realize that you only mentioned that jokingly. You're work is top notch!!! I only did this top plate. The rest are open for inspection. I figured I might as well apply some of the info I got from watching all those "we're on a deadline, let's have an argument, who's going to quit" hot rod building shows!

Very nice Doug  .
One of my favorite colors.
Sure would look nice with some Ivory White if your planning to paint the body that color. :D Danny
