Trailer Jack Help Needed!

Postby SATEAR » Mon Nov 02, 2009 8:18 pm

Hey Guys:

I am finishing up my frame and need to add a trailer jack. As you can see in the pic, I have an A-Frame, '46 Kitt that I am basically rebuilding from the wreckage.

Will the Swing-away trailer jacks work on this one? If not what is recommended. The area where the regular a-frame trailer jack was supposed to go was welded up long ago with a heavy duty plate and I don't want to remove this and add another plate for the original jack.

I am not sure if the angle would matter on the A-frame tongue if I get a swing-away jack.

Any thoughts or ideas!

Thanks,

Gabe

My trailer has a tongue that is too short and the wrong shape for a swing up jack. I took a jack apart - cut off the mounting bracket/swivel and welded the tube of the jack directly to the trailer. Solved my problem and also reduced the weight of the jack (the mount/swivel weighs nearly as much as the jack). I don't have any pics yet due to weather and work schedule.

I have a similar situation. I mounted the jack, but the frame twisted, so I had to put in a x member near the jack to solve the problem...

go to the link below and on the index, click on the 6th one down that starts with 'jack'.... and you will see what I did.
