You can make fire-starters with sawdust and candle wax. Melt some wax, stir in the sawdust until it is like a stiff cookie batter. Scoop it into little balls and let it harden (golf ball size).

The finer stuff makes excellent oil dry......much better and quicker than cat litter. I save all of mine in a drum for just that purpose, after you use it you can throw it in a wood burner (watch for flash back tho!) or on a fire to finish returning it to whence it came. ;)

If you store saw dust, keep it in a covered container.... It can be highly flammable. It might be only 1 chance in a 1,000, but better safe than sorry.

fill egg crate sections (paper kind) with sawdust. Melt paraffin wax and pour into each section. Break sections apart. Burns a lot longer than those made with dryer lint.

You won't need 5 gal though :o ;)

this is so great. I am doing a dutch oven cooking demo with boy scouts tonight. it is a great activity to get scouts interested in cooking! used dryer lint with cubscouts. It was easy for them to collect it but the sawdust does burn longer.

I've used it in my Luggable Loo potty before in my camper. Absorbs water really well. Cheap too.

Make the golf ball sized fire starters as mentioned above --- then sell them on EBay to those of us who don't do woodwork!
