New guy doing some homework

Postby KevinP » Tue Nov 17, 2009 8:58 pm

Hey folks.

My name is Kevin and I live outside of Nashville. I recently acquired a 5'x10' trailer that was damaged in a wreck and was considering building a teardrop camper to take with me to antique engine and tractor shows to stay in (sometimes the nearest motel is an hour away; not cool). Joined up to look at desgins/ do's and don'ts/ parts in order to build my own.. :Flippin Burger: Plus it's nice to be near the equipment at night.

Welcome - You'll spend plenty of sleepless nights here doing your homework - start with the design library at the top of the page, then move to the hall of fame for a sampling of what others have done and you'll be well on your way!

KP, welcome to the forum!! Well, you're part way there...... you've got a trailer to build on and a 5X10 will give you a VERY nice platform to build upon.

Let us know what you decide to build and we'll lure/drive/pull you into one direction or another..........

Welcome.

Folks here are real helpful.

Feel free to ride down to Birmingham the first weekend in December and come to our gathering to meet folks and see some builds (and boughts).

Thanks forthe welcomes guys. I did send a fewhours last night searching the forum looking at everyone's designs/ builds and old articles on how to build them. Very cool and very interesting on how each has their own characteristics.. :)

Karen, what weekend is the gathering in December date-wise? Winterprojects are starting to pile up andneed to pencil my calender accordingly so I don't run around like a chicken with my head cut off..... :?

Welcome

As good a reason as any to build a tear drop!! I like to go to steam shows also, Sycamore, Illinois, Mt. Pleasant Iowa, and Baraboo, Wisc to name a few. Great excuse to have a trailer, cannot think of a better one, but I am sure there are, like tear gatherings!!! Unexpected Guests.... a place for your Mother in Law to sleep (if you have one). A place for you to sleep if your mother in law's daugher is mad at you. Better than a dog house, if you are in one. Welcome to the insanity of building a trailer that any normal affluent person can just go out and buy, (not that normalcy or affluence is a bad thing), for any reason or just to be able to say I built it myself!! WELCOME!!!
