ready mixed aluminum paint?

I was recently at a small town hardware store where I found ready mixed alum. paint. I was told as wellas read from the can that it couldn't be used as a primer on wood but it could be used as a final coat. So I purchased it I had primed my roof w/bulls eye primer oil based and now a week later I have "top coated" with said paint..
It is very slow to cure.

HBM...interesting, in the pics, it looks like "real" aluminum...somewhere on the board a while back someone had a pic of a tear that was done completely(i think) with a similar product

Also forgot to mention while it is STILL curing the aluminum properties in the paint actually seperate and rise to form the outer shell and yes it is VERY shiny when the sun hits it..

Aluminium primer used to be sold here as a primer for wood. It was very, very good. I had house on the UK west coast (Newfoundland was the next place going west) and the builder used it to primer the window frames - it took me several years to get round to painting it and it remained in perfect condition.

I've not seen it for many years - too much VOCs in it, perhaps?

The paint is manufactured by HyKlas Paint Inc.out of Louisville Ky.
Only problem I have found is that it is vey very slow to cure due to temp. being 30's at night and 60 daytime. It is in the garage with no heat

Even with the cost of primer, it is alot less than the cost of a sheet of al-you-minie-um!

Especially if you are doing a 5 by something teardrop!

Kerry has got it dead right - it's the 'y' in you, as well as the extra 'i' that makes it Brit. Same as Jag-you-ah, not Jag-wah.

Except since the late eighties or early nineties "Jagaur" has been pronounced "Ford".

My XJ-SC predates the buy out, so it is not pronounced Ford.

WARNING!!! DO NOT USE!!

This paint is crazy. I painted it Saturday and it has been drying till today and when the paint is in the shade or in cool temp. it is very solid and has no problems. However, when it is in the sun or when the temp. increases it becomes very very soft and when touched it will gum up in a pile... Needless to say it is now being taken off with a putty knife I have tried to contact the company with no response or call back..The retail store I bought it at said it should have worked but, he will give my money back and was very quick to apologize. Sorry for the long message I just need to vent.
