Lookin' good Doug! Your choice of flooring is great! Are the cabinets getting painted?

Thanks all....Mark...yup, it's going to be painted. Speckled walls like the original Scotties, solid cabinets. I've done my share of natural finished wood builds, so this one gets a different treatment. Doug

Doesn't look like much, but I've only had like 2 days in the last couple of weeks to work on it.

2 days...

 :applause:

Looks thoroughly bitchin'! Love that floor...

And the cabinetry's very nicely done, as one would expect of you. Can't wait to see what aluminum extrusion trim you might use on those items...

Very much looking forward to seeing this thing up close.

Boy it's amazing how like minds miles away think alike. Guess I need to change my floor color being how I haven't gotten it yet. But I'm not changing my counter top. ;) Looking good there Mr. Doug.

Looking good Doug,
Love the inside out build. Will require some discipline to have everything line up with the walls but I suspect you have that quality.

The flooring is outstanding!!!

I know you prefer "Napkin-CAD" but holler if you need some 21st century drawings

Doug,

As always with your builds, they just keep getting better the further along you go.

What method/process are you using to do the speckled paint?

Thanks, Tom

What was done on Steve E's Scotty was to roll the walls with the base color...then dip a stiff bristled nylon whisk broom into about 1/2" of paint and then put it lengthwise between your fingers and slowly pull back and allow it to flip onto the wall. If you do it slowly and stand back about 3 feet, you can have an amazing amount of control on it and can put it on evenly. It will probably have a speckled paint finish of base color and 3 colors on top.

I've sprayed zolatone before and it isn't the look I want, besides, I don't have a hopper type gun to spray it. This is sorta what it will look like. Doug

I got the laminate down....can't tell, but it's the aqua boomerang, tops trimmed with aluminum, got the left side into paint. The galley took a ton of time. It's just 1/4" ply backed with 3/4 sq. material for stiffeners and framing. The cooler tray holds this larger cooler, but had to be lifted a bit to clear the wheel tub. I made it this way in case the vintage cooler I have develops any problems and have to use the larger one. My approach was to put in the big things, sink and cooler, then frame it in to maximize the storage space for the rest of the stuff. I can fit a Coleman lantern 200/242 in the lower left cabinet of the galley. I left enough room above the drawer to fit a cook top in the future.

I also had some scrap ply and extra laminate, so made up a cocktail table for outside use. I scrounged the legs at a gathering when Dave A was burning up a piece of old furniture that became firewood and spotted the nice tapered legs with the swivel feet, just a paint job and some T nuts....perfect for the early 60's look.

I'm cooking up my treatment for the door fronts....gotta be something different, not just a plain painted door. Doug

You must laugh every time you look at that table. It is so great!
Still graced with two eyes and ten fingers (due in no small part to luck!).

Just when you think a problem is solved, an uglier result replaces it.

Nice looking Doug.
That kidney shaped table reminds me of my 7Th grade wood shop project back in the early 60's.
Same shape, same legs, just in Mahogany.
Yours is the first I've seen since then. :D Danny

Wow Danny...you got to do a table?....I only got to do a cutting board in 7th grade, but as a kid riding with mom to pick up my sister at Jr. high, I saw that a number, IE most of the wood shop guys, were doing bowling pin lamps! For me in high school...it was gun racks, but that was in Alaska. Now that I think of it....a bowling pin lamp might just be the perfect thing! Now to find the correct kidney shaped coral colored melmac ash tray. After all....what self respecting early 60's thing wouldn't be complete without that! I have a lot of fun trying to recreate all sorts of lost crap from the past. Doug
