Walls cut need help with door size and placement

I finshed cutting the sides this morning they don't look too bad if I say so myself

this is were I need some advice, I,m not small 6'tall 300 plus # any thought too how wide the doors should be I can squeeze in 24'' opening put its tight , how tall should they be and how far back from the front walls.
I now these ? have been asked before but I want some personal thoughts from this group of wise teardrop gooroos

Thats a very good question and one that I'm currently thinking about for mine.

I think the generic BRoy has the door placed 16 inches from the front edge of the wall, and a 30 inch wide door. I need to squeeze that 30 inches down because of interference with my wheels. I'm worryng about the 16" being reduced more than an inch or so because of bulkhead storage shelves possibly mounted up front being in the way. I'm curious to see what other have to say. I'm 6'0 and 220. Wondering about the 24" door myself.

I have gone with a large door because I too am a big fellow. I made mine 30" wide and 36" tall. So yes, my trailer is mostly door. I figure if it's not comfortable getting in and out, I won't use it. I am basing my build on the Cubby plans from Kuffle Creek but have changed the profile. I plan to add a lilttle more reenforcment around the door since they will be so large. I am also not planning on a shelf in the front but instead will extend the cabin into the tongue box like the Camp Inn.

I would go with at least a 30x36" door if at all possible and center it as best as possible between the front fender edge and the front of the body...cheat it one way of another for any clearance issues. You may want to make a cardboard or paper cut out to mave around to check placement and look and like I said, be aware of fender clearance issues

Madjack, if I go that large I'll have to probably do a fender flare type cut on the lower left edge of the door so it will clear the fender at the bottom. (not a large one) Are you aware of anyone else doing this type of door and if it presents problems that are unjustifiable?

VB9, I have seen several done that way and if your skills are upto the task then I would say goforit...otherwise shrink your door down or cheat it forward enough to clear those fenders...I am a firm believer in the K.I.S.S. principle and unless I just had to have the extra room or wanted the look I think I would opt for a smaller or more forward door instead of trying to fit the door around the fender(anti-K.I.S.S)

The largest doors I know of are on the Grasshopper. They are 30" wide by 40" high.

If you can't squeeze into a 30" wide door, pm me, and we'll have to come up with something radical!

I can squeeze into a 24in. door thank yooou very much just wanted a bit more wiggle room if you know what I mean.

Well in that case, 28 or 30 should do you just fine... make the door low enough so you don't cut off the circulation in your legs when sitting on the bed, and tall enough so you don't hit your head when peeking in...

Here's a Benroy with a 30"wx38"t door on a HF trailer with the axle in the stock position.



I can get the distance from the door to the front of the trailer if you need it.

My DesertDawg has 32w x 39h. I probably over did it (like everything else) but I have the room so they will be easy to get in and out of. With it being a 10 long trailer, the doors don't look out of proportion with the rest of the trailer.
