Todays find!

Postby Woodbutcher » Sun Nov 01, 2009 7:10 pm

I hit my regular flea market today and stumbled onto this. Literally, It was on the ground kind of tucked away. It was in real good shape just needs some cleaning and seasoning. Twenty bucks! I have a real nice one already but could not pass on it.

Can you use one of those on an electric stove?

Absolutely if it's the old type coil burner. I don't know about some of the newer electric type stoves. I've been cooking waffles with old irons on my electric stove since 1968. Best waffles ever out of those old Griswold (and some other) waffle irons. I feel that the high base works better on my coil electric stove by getting the irons more away from the heat but I have also used low base ones very successfully.

I've got a couple of extra Griswold and other waffle irons I'll sell if anyone is interested as well as a ton (almost; about 75) of 19th century stovetop skillets and other iron cookware that I've been collecting for 40+ years. Just pm me or, better yet call 415-453-7790 (San Francisco area)

Why not list some on the "Trading Post" section here?

Well, it took me a while but I got some photos of three waffle irons I have for sale and have posted them on my Photobucket album here-
(Also just added a very old camp oven made in San Francisco)

http://s291.photobucket.com/albums/ll31 ... or%20sale/

There are three waffle irons shown. If you click on the FIRST photo in the album of the waffle irons shown there is a description and price below each one. If interested you may call me at 415-453-7790 or email at ironageman at comcast dot net. I'm in the San Francisco area. I have well over 100 other pieces of iron cookware to sell- just no photos yet or alist. Mostly I sell on consignment in a local mall but am starting to downsize my own collection from the past 40 years. Time permitting I hope to list more iron on my Photobucket album.

Regards,
Steve
