Hello, I'm new to the Board

Postby tnsurveyor » Mon Dec 14, 2009 10:33 am

Hello, my name is Jimmy. I've been lurking for a short time.

I'm impressed by the creativity I've seen here.

I am looking at building a combination trailer. I need something along the Simple style, with the squared off look. I really like Dough's trailer, and Jerry's 3 in one type trailer.

I'm a pretty big guy. I need the space that that type of style offers, but I will be adding extra height as well.

I'm looking for a small space that I can use as a small office for my business, when I need to use the laptop and printer. I'd also like to be able to use if for camping, as well as tool storage for some of my side projects.

I own a small land surveying company, and a mobile office would be very beneficial to the operation, and free up some space in my pickup. I would also like to be able to use it as a small enclosed trailer for when I need to run my generator for other projects in the rain or keep it locked up and out of site at some locations. I'm kind of a jack or all trades.

My mind is running crazy with ideas, and I've spent countless hours on here looking at various designs.

I look forward to building one in the near future.

One note, when I try to go to the main page at (www.mikenchell.com/), my antivirus software says that it detects a virus. Is anyone else having that problem?

I can access the forums pretty easily, but I get the feeling that there may be more on the site than what I am able to access.

Thanks!

Jimmy,
Sounds like you are a perfect candidate for a cargo conversion. A little more height to use it as an office and it would "fit in" around the job site. Plenty of examples on here.

Never had a problem with the antivirus going off here.......wait a minute, I don't use any. Your program is seeing something it doesn't like but it's just a false alarm

Jim
I need a new Avatar. I'd put my dog up there but she doesn't look much like me. She's the skinny one.

Someone told me it would be a good place to keep my lawnmower in the off camping season.

:fb

No such thing as "OFF SEASON" we are headed out on 1/12/10 for a camping trip. Maybe we can set a new record -20 wind chill.

Thanks everyone.

The trailer will be multi-use, while being able to load and unload as needed for each specific task.

I got some prices for 5x8 and 6x12 enclosed trailers. Man, they are expensive.

Gotta get a few things paid off first, so hopefully it won't be too long and I'll be starting something!

In the meantime, I'll be reading and planning.

Hi there, Jimmy. My suggestion is to keep an eye out for a fairly short, stand-up, vintage travel trailer. That way, you can have all of the sleeping arraingements you need, plus a place to cook, sleep and go to the head, in the middle of the night. If you can find a well maintained little standy, reworking the interior, isn't such a big job.

I don't believe a teardrop would suit your needs, so keep a vintage unit in your sights. Good luck on your search, there are a bunch of trailers out there, to suit your needs, all you gotta do is find one.

Welcome to the board.

If you have trouble finding a vintage trailer like Roly suggests, or you have the itch to build you may want to consider a build such as Gerald's http://tnttt.com/viewtopic.php?t=9017

If you don't need the bunks for kids I think you could end up with room for all you are after.
