[SOLD] 1961 Trailorboat (No Boat) - DFW Area, TX

Postby bg » Sat Nov 21, 2009 4:58 pm

As much as I do enjoy it, I've decided to sell the Trailorboat.

The trailer is NOT original.

This trailer is not titled - Registered as a Home built Trailer in Texas - No title issued.

I do not have a boat for the trailer - I do have the contact information for the company that currently owns the molds.

Axle has been modified to fit 13" Wheels from a front wheel drive car - Lug studs and nuts replaces August 2009. Tires are of an unknown age but in fair condition.

Coupler Latch was replaced & Tongue jack was added

Single safety chain replaced with two 3500lb safety chains with clips.

Wiring harness replaced December 2008 - All lights are grounded directly.

Latches on Rear Hatch replaced with Combination Cam Locks - December 2008

Window added to Door - April 2009

Top was removed & resealed October 2009
(No Picture)

Electrical is very simple - Porch & cabin lights, switches located inside of cabin. Battery located in rear storage compartment. 110 volt electrical is the inlet and a duplex outlet located in the rear storage compartment.

Sleeping area measures approx 74" x 45" - I fitted 3 45"x 24" cushions to this area.

Rear storage is original other than the battery box and the duplex outlet.

Comes with a spare tire.

I recently completed a 1200 mile trip through Texas, Louisiana, & Mississippi - towed through several torrential rainstorms without leaks. The trailer tows well and I estimate it's weight at about 700 lbs loaded with my camping gear.

I'm asking $1650 picked up in Mesquite, TX.

WOW - the trailer boat "FOR SALE" . It'll be great rare deal for someone who wants something leakproof and solid!

I wish I was closer for a good inspection, I'd love to have one. Have you ever contacted that company with the boat mold for an estimate?

You're selling it? :o

Are you going to get some other camper, perhaps a TD? Wassup? If you sell it before Ray Roberts or New Year's Eve, what will you camp in?

CD-

I do still have a decent tent - but I have no idea how long it will take to sell.

My plan is to build a TD and have a more traditional galley setup.

bve-

I've never contacted the company, I personally have no desire to. Boats and I don't really get along.

I can't believe that hasn't been snapped up, weren't there less than 500 of those made?

I wish I wasn't 3,500 kilometers away.

Too far to drive to inspect :(

I do have some contact information -
As some of you may know by now, the "Valbert" Trailorboat clone molds are now owned by Bob Moors, owner of Unicraft Marine Products in Bellingham, WA. Bob is the former production VP for Uniflite Boats, and then Chris Craft. Together with a crew of 500, Bob has built more than 11,000 fiberglass boats over a 50 year career. He also built the world's first jet-powered personal watercraft, back in the mid-60's. If you are looking for an exact replacement for your missing original Trailorboat boat, Bob's shop is the only place in the world where you can get one.

The boats are available with any degree of finishing and outfitting, from as-popped-out of the mold with a gloss exterior and needing to have the interior completed, all the way up to a turnkey boat with an installed jet drive that still fits neatly on the trailer body. The cost will depend upon the degree/type of finishing and the current price of resin.

If you're looking for a brand new reproduction of the Trailorboat package on a modern trailer frame, Bob's the one to talk to, too.

Bob doesn't do email, so you'll have to call him at at his shop at360-734-2285 to get in touch with him. If you get voice mail, it's sometimes faster to just call him back later in the day.If you're into snail mail, you can send him a letter to:

Unicraft Marine Products, Inc.
815 Harris Avenue #8
Bellingham, WA 98225

Bob welcomes visitors to his shop and loves to hear about the Trailorboat's history and user experiences. If you're in the NW Washington state or Vancouver, BC areas and want to meet him, just give him a call to set up a time.

BG,

You might find some hunting and fishing forums on the web and see if you can advertise on them. I bet some of those guys might want a dry place to sleep at night that is not too much of a fuss.

I hope some scoops her up quickly!
