Please respect our administrators

I think it's really important for all of us to respect our forum administrators. These folks are volunteers. Somebody has keep things running smoothly and facilitate the discussion. Sometimes, they need to make a judgement call. If we give them a hard time whenever they make a decision t we don't like, they will eventually get tire of it and say "Screw it. I'm outta here".

I've had postings deleted and been warned about taking political pot shots. If it happens to you, please, accept it graciously and move on.

Going forward, I suggest religious sigs and user names be strongly discouraged or perhaps banned. Overtime they can create an impression that the forum does not welcome folks who don't share a certian religious view. This can lead to hard feelings, particulary among people who don't identify with mainstream religions.

I am personally agnostic. But I have enormous respect for persons of faith. (note the generality of the last statement). And I have never felt pressure from anyone on this board to accept their religious views.

My grandmother converted to Catholicism and named her children after Catholic saints. My genetic father was named Paul Anthony... I got the Anthony! Now how many protestant trained southern boys do you know named for a Catholic saint? I spent years wondering where the hell Anthony came from! (I was adopted)

What I am trying to say is that religion permeates our society... from Halloween(Druid) to Ra-mada Inns (Egyptian sun god Ra)... to my first name! The symbols are everywhere and are a integral part of our society... From my perspective as long as there is not active proselytizing going on I'm OK.

I consider how someone chooses to be identified to be a personal statement. Unless their choice of name or sig is patently offensive (admins make that call) then I think it should remain open.

One of the features on the other Forum that I appreciated is that everyone uses their real name. Sure a lot easier for me to identify with a real name instead of a made up CB radio kind of handle. If I met one of you at a teardrop gathering I sure wouldn't greet you with something like "Hi whatsurname542".

I agree with you.......but......I use the name Spadinator because I use it on other forums and it is easier to remember as few usernames as possible. By the way my name is Mike McDonald and I am new to the forum. Can we talk trailers?

Something that I was thinking about was maybe a thread for people to show themselves at either their computer so we all have an idea of who we are talking to and where they are...or working on their tear....No comments...just posts of who is who....I know that there are a lot of people that don't want either their real name or photo on the forum...but that is your choice, don't participate....For me...I would like to see some of the members real pictures of their shops, projects and family...we kinda are like a family here. It might be fun to see people and their projects for real...just a thought.......even I didn't break the camera when it took my photo....and after all...knowing a little more about the individual, might make you more likely to give him or her a break....It might be worth a shot....Doug

not a bad idea...I had my pic as my avatar for a long time(yep that was me) so that venue is available and of course you can always post a pic in your personal album and link to it or embed it. Also many people have personal websites with personal pics, pics of trips, gatherings and what have ya...so there is already many places that people have personal pics and ways for members to access those pics....that is why I always say...we luvs da pics

I think the moderators are fantastic myself... to keep this site alive and going... Respect yes I agree, Not only for them to fellow members as well.
