Designing a Puffie Standie?

Okay, I did a rough draft tonight of a 68" wide Puffin Standie.

Here are the hilights...

It's 11' long.

It has a 60" wide bed.

It has a full galley, AND a porta pottie.

Not many comments on this design... so what's wrong with it?

Nothing wrong with it, it's a dandy!

I haven't gotten much into standies for a few reasons...

1. I'm 6'4" tall, so most standies are not standies for me. Same problem with sideways mounted beds.

2. Whatever I build has to hide behind my block wall, or the HOA will ding me, and I don't have the cash to store something offsite.

I built my weekender 5' tall inside, and the extra foot makes for great cabinet space, but otherwise is wasted space. If I did it over again, it would be 48" tall, outside. Saves a bunch on material costs.

One thing about this design that my beloved would object to (she's a very visual person) is opening the door and looking at a toilet. She would immediately condem the trailer as an outhouse. Any way to move it to the back?

Have to give that some thought (moving the portie potty to the back).

I did one design where the portie potty is at the foot of the bed, but the only way to get to it is to climb over the bed...

Or put a cover around it...

Nothing wrong with it Mike. Close to what I would do if I was to do it over again. Simple design with ample storage and large galley

I like it Mike it is a simple design and I like my tears simple. If I wanted complex. I just suck it up and go buy one!

Lower right corner of the door doesn't retain much structure where the side wall meets the front. Might need to move the door an inch or so toward the rear. Hinges need some structure to support the door against constant use.

I wish I had putt the door in front and the bed in back. The porta potty can be under a nice cabinet with a cushion for putting the shoes on.

You can. A nice window goes where the top part of the door was. You do some rebuilding and voila!

If it looks bad on the outside, you paint it or put aluminum sheet over it. Rebuilding is FUN.

That's why I bought my [email protected]'s got all I want in a "standee" and I didn't have to build it. It's still our big tear when we want to go in class. When I just want a "hobbit hole" the myPOD works great.
