I think I passed through Ashville once on my way from Havelock, NC to Texas back in the early 70's. Now let see how far do I have pull my brand new TD from Port Orchard, WA to Ashville.

Thanks, Doug - I have to admit the scroll work came cut that way from the 'Depot. There's a nice design with leaves etched into the wood, too, which will show more if I run a little bit of stain over it. I thought it added a nice touch. I've never seen the inside of a vintage Shasta...

Thanks, Miriam - I got the lights cheap, don't remember how much exactly, but just a few dollars each off of Ebay. They're 12v.

I really did think the shelf turned out looking nice. Especially when my friend David hooked his battery up to it, so we could see them lit up!

Gee, I sure hope so. When is the Raccoon Holler Gathering this year?

My thoughts are we are almost done, structurally. Last two things that need to be done are the side doors and the hinge for the hatch.

Then, its just finish work, then sealing/painting.

I need to get it done for this Season, kids have gotten bigger the 2 years I've been working on it, and I am afraid they'll outgrow it before I am finished!

Our last tent-camp outing, August 2009 to Myrtle Beach, the zipper in the tent door finally went, had to hold the door closed with clothespins, and I tossed the tent in the dumpster on the way out of the park. It was a cheap (W)Al-mart tent and we had used it for several years, so I got my money's worth out of it.

Anyway, I either have to get the teardrop camp-able, or I'm going to have to invest in another family-sized tent, but I can't bring myself to purchase another tent - Just on principle! So, I better finish the camper!

Hey gang!

My friend David from the T&TTT list came over today and we spent the afternoon working on the camper.

We have shore power! We have the wiring done, through the converter box and to the cabin and outside lights!

The power goes in here:

Its alive!



We're making progress - Boy, its great to see it all lit up!

By the way, we weighed it tonight on the bathroom scale, under each side of the axle and under the tongue. It came to 552lbs total, so far.

The tongue was a little heavy at about 102lbs. However, we have not finished the galley yet, and our thoughts are that as we add a little weight to the backside, plus after I stow gear back there, the tongue will lighten up.

Wow, I got mine off ebay too, had not occurred to me yet where to find a replacement bulb...Have you tried any of the marine supply places? Sooner or later I will need to find a replacement bulb, too.

Addendum: The reading lamp lights take a standard #1383 12v RV bulb, checked Google got several hits, including Camping World: http://www.campingworld.com/shopping/item/automotive-type-12v-bulb-ref-1383-single-contact/19429

By the way, the outside lights are regular 110v lights, but wired 12v with a 12v RV bulb in the socket. This bulb looks like a standard household bulb but it is 12v. Found those bulbs at (W)Al-Mart for $1.47 each, but I don't know if they would fit in the reading lamps...
