Welcome Darcy, like to see some pictures when you get started. I saw a pop up going down I-10 in Arizona one time looked like it was converted into a stand up trailer with solid walls with windows and door. At the time I thought would a good idea. Now starting to see more people doing just that. Eddie

So what kind of Vardo are you going to build? A bow top? A Reading? A Ledge? How about a celestory roof, some of the folks on the forum really like clerestory rooftops.

Mini Renegade: I have a few friends down in the "Hat". How did you like Suffield?
EMiller: I thought of doing that too but I thought of the drag and the gas consumption...yeesh that's gotta hurt the pocketbook.
Steve: Yeah it is kind of a backward way of going about it but hey in this case it's all a part of the journey. I am going to build a ledge. Along the same lines as Rachel's. I love the one you did, definate craftsmanship there. What is a celestory roof? Is that the "Mollycroft"? If so, no. I would love to but I am keeping the original hard top on as a support for the new roof. I am also using the arched top as more storage space for longer items like poles for a canopy, lawnchairs, fishing rods, etc. Not sure if I should do 1x2 or 2x4 framing on the walls. I don't want to add too much weight.

Welcome. I am using the frame off of an old pop-up. It seems that a lot of people are finding good uses for old pop-ups. Good luck on your project.

Cool Dragonryder, I think it is an easy and economical way to recycle something that would probably just end up in a landfill. Very eco friendly.

Yes Tinkerman. I was lucky enough to see winter change to summer down the Hat. I lived opposite the mall on Rosslen Drive. I went into Suffield for a drink with the boys and found a full on rodeo going on! That was a great afternoon! Is the giant teepee still on the hill in Med Hat?

Hello Darcy: I am new here also. Good luck on your build. I am building my first TD. I could of used a tent trailer frame, too. I got one a couple of years ago for $100 US. I didn't know about teardrops then and I built a 4x8 flatbed stake side trailer out of it. I use it to carry building supplies like 2x4s or drywall boards or even plywood for say, a teardrop trailer. I am building a Kuffel Creek "Cubby" on a Harbor Freight 4x8 HD frame. I wanted to chime in and welcome you and wish you luck. I will check in on your build as I can.

Welcome from Grande Prairie. Good luck on the build. I soon have to get busy and finish the interior of my TD. We should try to get a list of all the people who live in Alberta and set up a gathering here.
