1969 Avion 10' Truck Camper

Postby landman76 » Thu Feb 11, 2010 1:06 pm

Hello everyone, I was turned on to your site by a friend that is building a benroy style teardrop. I'm mostly a lurker here and am blown away by all of your knowledge and excellent campers.

I recently aquired a 1969 Slide In Avion Camper & I've been having a hard time finding any sites or information on them via the web. I was wondering if any of you could point me in the right direction. I'm not sure if this style of camper fits here so if I'm outta bounds please excuse me.

Here's a pic of my camper: http://www.flickr.com/photos/11024693@N05/4349303742/

Thanks.

What a gorgeous old camper.

I can't provide you with any information, but I just had to tell you what a great camper you have there.

And since our design library had designs for that same style of camper, I can't believe you are in any way out of bounds. Welcome to the board and thanks for coming out of the shadows and into the light.

Look for a site that has historical information on Avion line of trailers.

I have a friend who is big into Avions and I used to have the URL on several sites. That was a computer or two back, unfortunately.

They are beautiful units.

Massive cool, dude. I don't have any resources that haven't already been suggested but I love that camper and had to say it

Thanks for kind words fellas, as well as for the leads. Plenty of stuff there for me to pilfer thru. I do enjoy your site and was actually looking to build my own teardrop just before I purchased this little gem last fall. For right now I'm focusing on the Avion...but still plan to build that tear drop one day!

Its ready to camp in right now, but we are going to do some freshening up and minor repair come spring and then maybe head up to Starved Rock here in IL.

Thanks again!!!

So I've been scanning thru the links you provided me, Bob, and all I can say is AWESOME....I don't know why these sites didn't come up in a google search, but I just wanted to reiterate how much I appreciate you pointing me in the right direction.

...and Dave, for some reason the link you provided "could not be found"....but thanks :D
