Maybe you can find work as a sled dog. :rofl2:

I told her she would not like the downhills..

Actualy saw a 'weight sled' (looked more like a reinforced bag on the picture on the box) at Academey today, while looking at the wife's adult trike she's been wanting. After discusion, we agreed it'd be a shame to buy it and the weather prohibit it's use (the trike, that is). I will walk in the rain and cold, but not bike, and she wouldn't, either. Thought also about that Trek 820 for me (income tax return is in) we decided instead to get a stride cycle. A sort of cross between an exercise bike and an eliptical. Did ten minutes on it tonight and feels like more workout than walking 25. Maybe I've not been walking fast enough. (I worry about walking speed becuase I have a tendancy to 'ovrstride' if I go verry fast, which I've been told is bad for the knees.)
With the eliptical I can't overstride as sride length is fixed, and even on lowest resistance I felt the 'burn' just above my knees and at the base of the glutes and had to swich back and forth between eliptical and 'biking'. Biking on it feels a bit weird, like somewhere between an upright and a recumbant exercise bike. No need to exercise in nasty weather, now, so in order to develop anf keep enough fitness to use this thing, I'll probably just use it all the time, and save outdoor time for play. Only bad thing, now I'll have to mount my chinning bar (at about waist height) for my supine pullups (been using a conveineint handrail at the high school's sports facility)
Sorry for the book, couldn't think how to say it all in less words

I have a small electric sauna [I know a sin] that I build in under my stairs when I built the house. My heater is broken though...

You can adjust the weight, just like my track coach did, partialy fill with cement, and add more when you need more weight. He had some a quarter full, some half full, some three quarters full, and some full (to the bead only) that was what inspired me, when I was on the track team, to try to run pushing a car, to develop leg stregnth and speed.
I went to state (Didn't win, though)
Did ten on the eliptical without sitting down today, and my body weight routine

congrats on the States.

I was thinking with a sled.. I could more easily adjust the weight up and down as needed... but perhaps just a few tires would do it. It would be cheaper.. and pretty indestructible. Do you remember what you did for a harness

Did my Friday workout yesterday morning.....feeling a little under the weather, so blah.
Today I carried two 25 lb plates through evil-mart and out to the car. I think that's good for a non-workout day. Still feeling under the weather.
Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day.

Basicaly just a rope with a fixed loop in it. You could, however, tie the rope to a large d ring passed through a good belt, or use web straps to make a backpack inpired harness. (or two leather belts w/d ring)

The rope was tied to a big eyebolt passed through the tire tread before cement was added.

Another one is uphill sprinting, though that can be hard on the knees if you start with a too steep grade. We used to 'run stadium', too. We'd run up the bleachers on one end, run to the other end, run back down the steps.

off tonight, and too windy outside to take Buddy out to play, so realy no exercise tonight. :relaxing:

I am a little under the weather.. :(

I did some easy walking yesterday.. just to get outside.. get some fresh air and to move around.

I have all kinds of hills on my back "yard" trails, some very steep.. I do run them.. winter and not. The weight vest helps in that also.

I would love a stadium to run stairs also.. stairs feel very different than my hills... traction is not usually an issue on stairs.

I think I want the "sled" to be heavy enough.. that it is work just to move.. vs a way to load running.. but I am not sure.
