Looking to buy... (PURCHA$ED)

Have a teardrop or a trailer for sale? Need one? Post here...

Postby 2KIRKS » Sat Feb 20, 2010 3:15 pm

i called the dealer with the little guy 5 wide i mentioned earlier to see if there was any chance they'd take less than "their cost" for the trailer and they said no.

if the trailer has been sitting on the lot since the original delivery date wouldn't you think they'd want to get rid of it at this point? i guess that's why i'm in the disposal business and not retail.

Not if it is their actual cost. If it's on a lot, it doesn't take
up much room, doesn't have much if any maintenance cost,
so no, they wont take a lower offer.

something like $4500 or close to that.

if the trailer was sitting on the lot as a trade in could they sell it for that? a 2007 6-wide auction just ended on ebay at $3800. i don't know if they'll be able to sell a "new" 2006 at their cost.

I'm surprised it was that high.

Would not pay that much for a 2006. No way. Especially not if it's been sitting outside all this time.

that's what i was thinking too... i don't think it's worth $4000+ at this point in the game. especially knowing it's been sitting outside for at least 3 or 4 years.

that's why i thought they might bite the bullet and be happy to get rid of it.

I basically told a former Pleasant Valley dealer the same thing and he still remained pretty entrenched with the "I have to have invoice out of the trailer."

I told him what the used market would bear for what he had left and his response was, "well, their paid for and not taking up much room, so I'll just hold on to them."

To each his own I suppose...

as for that "dealer" in IL with a 3 or 4 year old Little Guy, he has to be factoring ALL accumulated costs into that price (shipping, prep, etc...)

I didn't figure out exactly what I want until I got one and experienced it. Well, actually I still don't know exactly what I want. I have a better approximation of what I want.

I'd have been happy with any nice looking teardrop that didn't leak, rolled smoothly and wasn't too heavy for my vehicle.

But tenting is still fresh in my mind, so any teardrop is luxurious compared to that.

Find a teardrop that's solid and you feel is a fair price and I'm pretty confident that you'll be happy with it. You don't have to keep it forever.

Unless you paint it to match your vehicle, in which case you are stuck with both the TV and the teardrop.
