Wolfgang,

Very nice! What type/model switch is that (perhaps the Leviton low voltage switch)?

It must be an exciting time to start wiring your TD. I'm almost to that point myself.

WolfGang That is some mighty fine work you have done. I love it. Your going to have long lines of folks wanting to take a tour when you go camping. Sure wish I was just a tad closer I,d want a Look See myself :applause: :applause: :applause: :applause:

Everybody else has already said it: Beautiful work! I can add that this is going to be a very unique design with your personal signature all over it. It is very interesting to watch the build and it will be intriguing to see. :applause:

Thank you all for the kind comments.

Burke,
The reading lights are really brushed nickel finish. I took the picture without flash and it the color is off by a bit. Did not even notice it when I looked at the picture. Funny how your brain can miss stuff.

Tom,
It is a Levington switch, but 110V. There were some discussion about110V vs 12V switches. But if I remember right, most 110V switches folks used seemed to work OK.
I decided to mark all wires, that way a couple years from now it will be easier to figure out what I did. Getting old you know…….

Finn,
Yea, that big puddle (Atlantic) get in the way. If you ever make it to the States, stop by in sunny San Diego and we will be happy to give you a tour.

Sharon,
Being able to put your own design signature in the built is one of the things I really enjoy. If you build it yourself, you can blame only yourself it it does not turn out the way to your liking.

Had some really nice weather this weekend.
Today's high was 86 degrees @ the Wild Animal park (run by the San Diego Zoo) only 5 mile's from my house.
It was still 76 deg when I got home at about 4:45.

Installed first 1/8" ply next to the A/C Sunday.

Image

2nd piece tonight.

Image

The temperature tomorrow it will be back down the about 75 deg.
Will still be able to on last piece before it get to chilly.
Then it's of the the store to get the aluminum diamond plate for the front later this week.

Slowly but surly, it will get done.

Got a good start on building the hatch.

Stopped by my favorite lumber store, Saroyan Lumber in San Marcos. Great selection.
Talked to the guy behind the counter. He knows I am building a teardrop.
He told me a customer named Harold from Carlsbad bought some wood for the teardrop he is building.
Small world............

On the build front, cut and sanded the ribs over the last week.
Stained the ribs tonight.

Wolfgang,

Looking good! Keep pressing forward. There's nothing like an upcoming teardrop outing to keep you focused.

Hey Wolfgang,
Build is looking GREAT :applause: I haven't been getting updates in the old email so thought I'd post to get back in the groove of things. My doors on mine, I made a mistake too, switched the outter skins with the inner ones...too many beverages while working on it  Now I'll be updated and I'm impressed with how your interior is coming out...neat idea on incorprating a shelve on top of the wheelwell cover

Even with a lot of ran saturday (1.5", a lot for us), I got a lot done.

Assembled and skinned the outside of the hatch.

I sat the hatch frame in the opening and put 1/4" shims on the side to help keep it in place. 1st piece in place. 2nd piece has glue on it and was about to be installed.
Image

Hatch completely skinned with 1st layer and held in place until after a second layer of 1/8" luan goes on top.

Image

First time with the hatch open. And a big step forward. :D
Image

Made the sides of the hatch about an inch longer since I'm still not 100% sure what the hatch detail will look like when it's done.

I am so envious of you people, Sharon etc, who are going to get a chance to see this one in the flesh. You said earlier that you hoped you'd build a tear half as good as someone else's. Dude, methinks you've exceeded your hopes. So far so good and she's a ripper already. :applause:

Oh and a big "AEHAHAHAHA!!" to the cat on the shoulders. None of my cats would do that. I'm only a couch to them.. somewhere to lie on at night, God love them!! To be able to have them as a fashion accessory is unthinkable..

That's Smoo, one of the bottle babies that never left our house. He is getting older and can't jump the way he used to. But he still loves to be picked up and ride around on our shoulders. He really enjoys being on my shoulder when I'm making dinner. He stays up there for sometimes /1/2 an hour. He's the only kind of fur my wife likes also.

Well, spend a little more time working on the trailer. Weather is not co-operating this weekend. Rain and cold (by so cal standard's).
Harold and his wife stopped by the see the trailer this morning. Had a nice visit talking about trailer building. First person other than friends and next door neighbor to see the build in person.

Finished skinning the second layer on the hatch.
Image

The 9" grant fenders needed to be cut down in width by about 3". I think Doug (?) posted on the best way to do this about a year ago. So I will not post the details, other to say it worked like a charm.

Pair of narrower fenders

Fender held in place with clamps to see how it will look

That's all for today..............
