After about two years of thinking about building a TD I made the big move towards doing it.....bought the HF trailer as a starting point so now I'm committed(or should be...) we'll see what happens next.......

Welcome from the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of Western NC!

Congrats on taking that big first leap into building! I remember the feeling when I finally committed to purchasing the trailer, thinking 'OK, no turning back now!'!

Have fun and keep us posted as to your progress!

Made the second big move today after work,,,,unloading the boxes from the truck.....think I pulled something moving the one 150 lb box....somehow made room in my one car garage to stack it amidst the harley, mini-bike, roll aways, engine and tranny I'll never rebuild, and camping stuff. I'm thinking I might have to just build this thing in the driveway when the weather warms up a bit....

Congratulations Terry! You are now the proud owner of an unfinished teardrop. :) I'm sure you will have great fun designing and building it. Have you settled on a design?

I am building my teardrop outside, on my driveway in the winter. All you need is a really big tarp and take note of the temperature when glueing or painting. A garage is nice but not essential as is waiting for the Spring.

I fabricated my steelwork with the help of a welder when it was minus 12oC.

My advice to anybody without a workshop/garage would be to get out and do it or you never will.

Keep us posted.
Kind Regards, BigAl.

Ditto.....

Assembled my first hf trailer in the dining room in early April 07 and carried it outside to install the wheels.

Have built 4 trailers and they were all built in the driveway!

Here is a shot of my spacious shop 8)

Darned if the dining room wasn't a really good idea....started there then moved to the garage....the frame is done, floor is fitted, drilled, ready to install and waiting for the first coat of roofing tar to dry. Working on my profile to trace on the 1/4" luan to use as a template ;) I will post pictures somewhere as the sunshine allows them to be taken....
Thanks for all the info this forum provides......
