Yes, I can smell the campfires and see the end of my build.

I guess it's sort of like light at the end of the tunnel which in my case usually is a freight train.

Well, I broke my string of consecutive weekends working on the teardrop last weekend, but got back after it this week.

There was a little bit of mismatch where some of my exterior plywood panels met - about 1/32" to 1/16" in some places. I'm sure the aluminum would have spanned the differences, but it was bugging me. So, I mixed up some epoxy fairing compound and applied it to all of the plywood seams. After curing and sanding the fairing compound, I felt better.



My teardrop was now ready to get a coat of epoxy to seal the plywood. I probably would not have used epoxy, but had some left over after doing my floor. Here is a picture of my teardrop after epoxying.



And while I had the epoxy out, I decided to put the first coat on the cedar tongue box I built to house the Petcool.



That's probably it for this weekend. I need to let things cure a bit before sanding, it's raining and cold outside, and my motivation is waning. (Or is that just the epoxy fume effect still lingering?)

Hi Tom: I just spent the last two hours reading through your build. It is truly amazing. I am building my Silver Nugget TD now, but it is only a 4x8 Cubby style. I have limited funds so I am getting parts as I need them and can afford to buy them. I like the flooring on the sides. I had thought of that for mine, also. I will use your idea of attaching the exterior skins with PL & screws and then removing the screws and fill in the holes with filler. That is if I have your permission to use your idea if you have not applied for a patent yet. There will not be any chance of the screws backing out and messing up the aluminum skin. I will set back & see how you install the aluminum sheets. I also like your wheels you chose. The Silver Beatle will have some nice red toe nails. I will watch as you finish it up. I would say good luck, but I see it is already with you. Take care and keep plugging away.

Thanks for the nice compliments. I have spent some money on extras. but I've stretched the funding for those out over about two years. I wanted this teardrop "to be the one" but I already have had thoughts about a second build.

Other than perhaps using the flooring, I don't have an original idea in my teardrop. I have borrowed ideas from countless people on this forum. The flooring idea came from not liking to finish wood, but I ended up saving money using it instead of hardwood plywood. Lowe's had it on sale, and I had a gift certificate and a 10% off certificate, so I was able to purchase the flooring for about the cost of 1/4" oak plywood.

I can't wait to see your build!
