Doug, we must forgive them fore they do not appreciate the beauty and comfort of a pair of strechy chef pants.

Who cares about looks, it's all about comfort! (said the guy who wares shorts and Ugs in the snow). But I must say, Doug, that is one cool humming bird.

Thanks John!!! you, me and George are independent spirits on fashion....For the trailer, I'm still cooking up one piece that is necessary. Over the little cabinet on the left of the door when you enter. I'm thinking a combination mirror/shelf and since there were so many great clocks in that era...gotta have that, all worked into one thing. To some it may be a bit much, but when I get all the trim installed, quilt, curtains, and other accessories....it will all fall into place. No one has to camp in it but me. Doug

Fashion? What's that?...

The only thing I don't like about my build is that I hurried it along to get ready for a 4 week road trip through the Tetons and Glacier NP, so deliberatly didn't spend the time on the details, which, after looking closely at your work, makes a lot of difference. I got the trailer comfortable, to be sure, and the galley works real well for us, but me being heavy on the engineering side and a bit less on the artistic side, I really appreciate your ability to take a couple of geometric shapes and some black paint and tie the angles on the table leg into the wall decoration. Thanks for the close up shot, it shows the simple detail of the bird.

It does look a bit empty, but as you say, with the curtains, cushions and all the rest it will tie in very nicely.

Thank goodness it blue/green - 'cause I'm green with envy! 8) Really looks good on the inside - attention to detail seems to be the driving factor - Now what's waiting for us on the exterior

Yup Bruce....Norlin library, so I didn't quote it exactly, but it's stuck with me since 1973. Original thought by Cicero. Doug

Here's my Sunday update: Not much to show, but I did manage to get the rest of it insulated, and about 1/2 the sub skin on it, cheap 1/8" luan. In order to work on the roof, I pulled the wheels and dropped it down onto the hubs on a 2x4. I'm sort of getting burned out and find that I'm putting off things that I don't want to work on. Besides, there was a car race and A Pink Panther film that distracted me today. I forgot I loaned 1 of my ladders so I have to drag it from side to side and after spending some time on it/up and down...I coasted. Also took the taillights apart and painted the interiors of them white. They were black powdercoat, now they put about 2x the light that they did.

I did get the table trimmed out, and Marti came by with the cushions and the awning. Cushions are a teal tweed Sunbrella and zippered, should hold up really well. She does awesome work! I need the vertical poles for the awning and have to modify some tent poles for the top cross.

Some of you might remember those anodized tumblers when you were a kid. I grew up with them, so thought it would be perfect for the trailer. I remember having Kool aid and Fizzies in them. Found some new repro ones on E-bay...the originals bring pretty good dough, and I didn't think I needed them that bad. These will work for me.

Sorry Dave...don't have the poles or the track for attachment. It's teal and white wide stripes, with a white fringe on it....She also makes up a stuff sack for awnings that come with them. Doug

LOOOOOKING GOOD !!!

Postby down under tech » Sun Mar 07, 2010 9:11 pm

Hi Doug: I remember using those glasses for Kool-Aid a couple of years ago. No, wait that was a bunch of years ago. DUH. If I remember right, they are aluminum and real lite. I like the contrast of the darker color for the seat covers. Great job Marti.
Take Care :P

Good! Go ahead and slow down a bit. You're making me look like a sloth! I like the new cushions...never thought of using Sunbrella.
