This wednesday, we are going to get her adult trike, which I guess means I'll have to get a bike, too.

Wish I was solid on what I want.

If you want a rigid mountain bike.. with gears.. there should be all kinds of good stuff available used.

Didn't think about used, since my local bike shop doesn't do used, but send them to another location in BFE for consignment, Might look into that.

Ten minutes, twice, with resistance.
Jeanne ten, twice, without resistance

sort of hesitant about bikes, Jeanne won't ride without me, and the only time I have for riding is after work, night, and she won't ride at night.

She doesn't want Trike unless I go riding with her, and I'm not so sure I want to spend money on bikes that'll hardly get used (especialy a good bike like a Trek or
Mirraco). I feel like I'm depriving her somehow, even though it's her saying she won't ride without me.
Think I'll check CL.

You can always find used bikes on craigslist in our area. Sometimes you can even find free. Just make sure they are the right size to fit you.

Think outside the TREK world. There are many other manufacturers of bicycles besides Trek that are made in the same over-seas factories.

Good luck with your purchase and have fun riding.

Not sure how close you are to a Good Will, or Salvation Army but I have seen many bicycles in those stores also. Or check garage sales.

Had the discussion about overseas bikes on another thread.
Dept. store bikes aren't worth the time it takes to make them ridable.
Trek is the lowest priced Quality brand I've found in a bike shop in my area.

Forgot I did the CL thing in my area before and every quality bike for sale they want almost new prices for them. Hasn't changed. in my area (Austin or Houston) even used bikes are lwo priced only if they're junk.
If I;m gonna pay $300+ for a bike it ain't gonna be someone else's worn out garbage.
There was even an add for a Mongoose XR 75 (WalMart bike) for more than that junk costs new at WalMart!
Afew older (pre pacific?) Schwinns on there if I want a cruiser, but that seems to be it.

Oh well, that's life.
Twenty straight on the eliptical today.
Jeanne did ten and then another five. Losing motivation?

  I had a real busy day working.. and then a meeting in the evening. So I had to settle for a 10 min continuous Kettlebell turkish get up. :D

Because of the earlier overuse injury to my left elbow.. and hurting my back at work. I have missed a couple of weeks. So I dropped back to my 35#. Even after the break, it was nice to see how light it felt... not that I was not tired after 10 min. but it seems not that long ago it was a struggle.

My usual straight twenty on the eliptical, which has started making a noise I'll have to investigate.

Jeanne one ten, one seven, one three (twenty total)

I am feeling better and pushing harder during workouts becuase I'm getting to that good place where I'm diggin' it while I'm doin' it.
Also, while I doubt a scale would register it, my spare tire is moving gradualy from full size to space saver status, and the ol' love handles seem to be shrinking just a bit, too.

Friday's workout, ten on the eliptical, resistance, another ten, more resistance, s-t-r-e-t-c-h.
Jeanne did one ten minute ride. (We were out of the house most of the day, and she does her intervals at different times of day.)

21.7 miles at 16.7 mph average - flats and hills - moving 287 lbs of bike, flesh and bone.

It's so beautiful to hang back and watch the lead riders blow their fuel or speed by on a climb, only to pass them at the crest and slow down so they can catch up. Mid-way make the move. Increase the spin just enough to pull away, but slow enough so one can break with you. Then it happens, the big guy follows and roars past. Perfect...close the gap - draft. .2 miles later call Pull and he moves left, my turn to lead. Keep the rotation going 3 miles while incrementally increasing spin, causing the thighs a slight burn. Head down, hands on the drops and your slicing through the headwind while the bike brain reports 19 mph. Big guy tries to hang, gasps and falls away. Your solo now, seven miles to go. No chain, mouth open, air swirling in your lungs. The sun - an orange ball, horizon magenta and the cover green with recent rains, this is why pain feels good. Last turn, wind pushing showing 23 mph indicated, how long can I hold; not long enough and settle on 20 and finish strong. Cycle through the computer - smile - it was a good effort and a few minutes later the gang rolls up, bikes strapped or chucked into the truck bed - twist a cap and chug, taste like gold.

Seven months ago the best I could average was 8 mph, now I'm the best of the group.
