I have a buddy who is tentatively set for the next one to be his.

Am I your buddy?

LAWL.

Just' kiddin'. Image Although I do hope my first tear (I've just spent some dough, so the project's a GO) turns out to be half as nice as yours, my good man.

OK So I found this really cool shelf liner when I went to get some more of the oak stuff for the side stripes. It is brushed aluminum. I just put it on and while I like how it brings out the aluminum trim on it, it kinda well looks like a sticker... AKA crappy. The wood stuff hides bumps and the silver stuff just makes it stick out like a sore thumb. I tossed three stripes up on it real quick and I am posting a pic anyway. Now I am headed to the store to get some of the oak stuff. It still won't look real, but at least it won't look like a little kid did it.

In this pic, it looks cool

In this pic you see how it looks up close. You can see all the screw holes and imperfections.

OK this is much better... all done. Got the wood trim and you can hardly see it in the pics which is ok with me since it is not real wood but it covers the screw heads and gives it a little extra coolness too, but not flashy.

Think of them as "ghost"ed, as in what're called ghost flames on a high-dollar hotrod, hotrod.

Hi Thomas, perhaps you could initial your TD, BLT - Badass Luxury Tent!!! I kind of liked the screws, they added a little almost rivet detail. The 'ghost' wood strips work well too. She's one of the coolest ladies around; great job!!!

What about that Chevy...? Are you planning on a little black paint for her too?

Cheers, Dave

2bits, Love the rig! I'd put it up there in the top two or three I've seen. Only question I have is how the black top does in that hot Texas sun? It looks a bazillion times better than anodized or brushed or mirror finish.

Hmm Dave... the BLT? That is too funny to actually use but that is pretty creative and has character and some tongue in cheek humor as well! Very nice! My truck has the original paint on it and it is all original except for the steering wheel, so I am going to keep it as it is. I like the faded look actually, gives it character, no one will want to steal it, and I can go off roading through the brush with out worrying about scratches! My old truck was black and it did look really cool in front of the teardrop because it was an older model. I also have a black Town Car I drive daily, I need to get a hitch on it to start saving some gas, and that would look sweet together, but I like taking the truck camping more actually.

Hey Mike, Thank you very much for the compliment! I was just going for something to my taste!

In Texas it doesn't matter what color it is, it is HOT... I have a black car and had a black truck and yeah it's a little bit hotter, but it's all a bunch of hype when you crank up the A/C. The only difference I would think would be surface temperature and I better not catch anyone climbing up on my trailer anyway!

Actually, it the heat of the summer you won't find me camping, and if on the off chance I am, there will be an easyup over it, so it's a non-issue as far as I am concerned.

People also say the same about black because you can see it get dirty faster like it's something to fear. I personally enjoy taking the teardrop to the car wash after a weekend camping, then pulling it into the garage and wiping it down. I think the cool look of it outweighs any worries.

My fenders are the generic fenders you can get from Tractor Supply or Northern Tool. I got mine from a vendor on eBay but I would recommend trying to stay local as I had multiple issues with them getting dented during shipping.

Thanks for posting those interior pics, even though we talked about them for about an hour but I never got back over there with my camera!
Did you order or get the other matching bedside lamp yet?

Oh yeah! I bid on it that night and won the auction and it is in the mail! That was such a great idea you had to post a request here for help, thank you!

for those that don't know, with the help of this great forum, I found an exact replica of the blue battery powered nightstand lamp on the right side of the first pic to go on the left side that currently has a too-bright fluorescent lamp sitting there. I did the math on it when I found out when they were made, and I've had mine since I was 6 years old, I always used it in my forts and club houses when I was young. I am excited to see what it will look and feel like with both lights going. Who needs electric lights!
