You have done a magnificent job with your teardrop! Love the matched wood grain. Really, really nice.

Thanks for all the pics -- am looking forward to you camp trip report and pics, too.

Enjoy!

Great job and great choice for the maiden voyage. Markleeville was often the spot of choice for the Placer Panners camping group that my grandparents belonged to. I camped there before I could walk.

Awesome! :applause: We don't always get to see the little details that are added after a teardrop has had its maiden voyage and sometimes those are the most fun to see! Love the 'Whale Stop'! Thanks for sharing!

I agree with Sharon!

Really cool to see the little hooks and such. Two questions: What's the function of the piece of oak on the paper towel holder, and what type of hooks did you use for your mugs?

Pat

The piece of oak keeps the paper towels from unrolling in the breeze

you can also use a length bead chain and a fob of some sort similar to the chain hanging from a cieling fan, anything to put a bit of wieght across the roll of paper

:) yup, al is right, that is the function of the piece of oak. It is on a strap hinge so it moves up and own with the paper towels as they are used up. I started out just using the hinge, but it wasn't quite heavy enough or pretty enough, and I already had the scrap so....The hooks are cup hooks you can usually find at any hardware store. I got mine at the local Ace on the hooks aisle. They have a little spring loaded latch on the top of the hook that keeps the hook "closed" and the cup handle on the hook, but you can easily slide it open to remove the cup.

Tongue box and side tables

Postby nevadatear » Wed Mar 24, 2010 10:28 pm

We generally finished the tear last fall, but knew we would add side tables and tongue box. We are planning a trip to Utah in two weeks, so the pressure is on to finish. We decided to paint the tongue box, rather than keep it all wood like the trailer 1) to simplify the construction 2) speed up production 3) we liked the touch of color as a contrast to the wood. Tried to emulate the curves of the front and top on the box. Have got the box epoxied and painted, and put the last coat of epoxy on the lid tonight. Hopefully can sand and paint and install by the end of the weekend.

The side tables are a variation on the hitch/receiver, just made of smaller material Randy had laying around the shop. Owning a machine shop means your side tables are made totally of scrap. Even the stainless top to the stove table! There will also be a (not pictured) shorter table on the other side to hold an ice chest while in camp. I'll show how the table comes apart in the next post, after everything is painted and looking pretty.

Ignore the grey-headed old woman in epoxy covered clothes, someone's got to do the sticky work!

Hi Guys, Your new additions are just great! Your tongue box is just about the size we are planning for our build. I know your battery is up front, what else are you going to stow in there? Just wondering what additional tongue weight you're expecting.

Warmest Wishes, Dave
