Newbe Questions Frame & Floor

Hi I am building a 5x8 frame. I have access to 2x2 16 gauge square tube for the frame and would use 1/8 for tongue. Would this be adequate for a lighter tear. I noticed the HD trailers are using this gage in a c channel. I believe the tube would be even stronger.
What is the advantage/disadvantage over a 1x2 wood framed floor vs. just plywood with the existing metal frame braces? Is 5/8 plywood thick enough

I've built a couple with 16Ga. sq. tube frames 4.5'x10's and a heavier tongue although it was a composite type tongue..... I also used a wood outer perimeter to attach the sides to under a 5/8" floor. Sides extend below the frame. It's a lot easier to have something to shoot screws into on the bottom of the sides to attach. The floor was bolted through some angle brackets on the frame using carriage bolts. Doug
