well the jury is still out on this thing. The company rep told me it would work on 12vdc but it doesnt. The unit I got is cheap garbage from China (literally shipped from hong kong). Im still looking for a suitable unit. I think I may have found one but haven't ordered it yet.

I got a RF controler with 2 key fobs from eBay to control the porch lights after reading this thread. It was easy to install and it's a fun bit of bling. The one I got was $20 including shipping. It will turn the lights on from across the street but for some reason you have to be pretty close to turn them off. It's a fun mod, I'd do it again.

I just ordered a new remote control unit! This one is made in the good ole USA! I learned my lesson: you get what you pay for. I cheaped out on the first one ($25 total, shipped from China) and just gave up on it. This one I spent a few more dollars on. The 2 channel RF units are hard to find!

THIS ONE ACTUALLY WORKS!!!!

Tested it as soon as I got home from work today. Had green LED cluster hooked up to channel 1, and blue LED cluster hooked up to channel 2. Works like a charm AND has code-jumping technology so random people can't mess with my lights!



As I had imagined, button 1 on the remote will control one set of lights, while button 2 on the remote will toggle a completely different set of lights! Can't wait to get everything wired up on the trailer!!!

This unit can actually be configured to operate in a few different modes, depending on how you wire it. Instructions are really clear, but if you do order this unit and have questions I'll be more than happy to help out!

btw.... this unit is rated @ 500 feet for distance, and there are additional antennas available that can extend the range to 3 times that!

I have remote lighting on my tear, one 4 channel remote.
http://www.oznium.com/remote-switch works great. They just came out with a strobe or dimmer capability.

I just installed that single channel remote in my buddies 56 F-100 for is dome light. His dash has ghost flames so you cant see then in the dark so I ran a LED strip for his dome light.
