1930's Picture: Street Car Camper

Postby Alfred » Wed Apr 07, 2010 5:42 pm

Hey gang,

Accompanied the kids on a school field trip to the NC Museum of History in Raleigh, NC last week: http://ncmuseumofhistory.org/

They had some really interesting pictures from the Great Depression, notably this one, which I found particularly intriguing, of a street car that had been converted into a place to live.

I took a picture of the picture, so to speak, regret that my reflection is in there, but still a very interesting picture.

Great picture Al!

I found a similar relic from the past in Colorado.

It makes sense, no point in letting perfectly good housing go to waste!

If you like the old depression era trailer/camping photos, have a look at a show I put together a few years ago.

Waiting for "someday" will leave you on your deathbed wondering why you didn't just rearrange your priorities and enjoy the time you had, instead of waiting for a "better" time to come along...

Hey Rob! Great slide show! So fascinating to see the faces looking back at us across time.

Yes, necessity is the mother of invention, and those desperate times brought out a lot of creativity as people tried to survive through a rough era.

Thanks for sharing your picture and slide show!

Asheville to Raleigh and back with a bunch of schoolkids. That had to be a long day.
