@ TILT - It was an Ebay seller.

NOT CHEAP, and took 3 weeks to deliver, as he makes those on demand.

Seatch under Trike mudguards.

I was looking in my history to find him, will look again now, maybe different search.

There you go, found him in the "Feedback" section.

THIS: Was the item.

He may not have them anymore, and you would have to ask him to custom make them.
I wanted a car type mudguard, not trailer, with a longer rear end.

STILL RAINING, Cold and wet

No progress for some time now.... and I am not that happy about it, but at least I have been able to keep busy with some other stuff.

I am selling up this house, to buy another inJuly/August , which has a nice large garage (30' x 30' ) and loads of space, fingers crossed.

I started reading your post this am and just now returned to finish.
it's 8:52 pm here in Ohio cold snowy and slick roads.
I have enjoyed reading all the post and looking at all the pictures.
One good thing about reading a long post that what took you months to do only took hours to read.
we have a saying here in Ohio "If the wife is happy everyones happy"
so keep the little lady happy it will make for more enjoyable camping trips.
great build I'll be back for more.

Hi Guys, been a bit quiet, not touched anything, but have my house on the market, viewers yesterday are supposed to be coming again tomorrow afternoon to look, so keep fingers crossed it is another positive experience for them.Ideally we would like them to sign etc, so that we can buy the house we want with the 30 x 30 foot garage before getting married.

Anyway, here is an update, I have copied and pasted the link to the Retro Rides thread, so please click and go take a look if you want.

There are 3 short video clips of the bus with its new 1800 Zetec fitted, running.
There is also a clip of Dave "Oldbus's" 24 Valve Cosworth powered bus.

Edd , my bus' builder says there is still some more fettling to be done, little jobs, but I am chuffed.
To take a modern 16 valve engine and to change the lot to a single wire, a la old school is pretty impressive in my book.

I hope to get back on track with the trailer build this weekend as well, if the weather plays along, as my garage is too full of stuff to be able to work and build inside.

MOJO RETURN ! ! !

And about time too.

Been 4 months with various interuptions, weather, snow, rain, chest infections and other poop that got in the way.

Started early yesterday morning, thinking I would just try figure out what I remembered from the last time I had worked on this project.

Rain, cold and more shite weather ensued as it seems to be customary for Easter weekend.
In the end I tried to do some plasma cutting, blew the fuse in the garage, uprated that from 15 to 30 amp, only to be completely bolloxed by more serious rain.
Threw the lot back in the garage, showered, and went to Nicola's place for the rest of the day and last night.
Today her son was off to the USA, so we only got away at 10am, but that did not stop the weather continueing to be challenging.
In the end I cut the four Ford Capri steel wheel centres out with the plasma cutter, they will be united with the centres from a set of 100E wheels so that we can get wider, modern tyres on the Anglia. Thread here: http://www.retrorides.proboards.com/ind ... 718&page=1

In the mean time the weather had cleared sufficiently that I could drag the floor frame out of the hibernation it had been in since before winter.
You may recall I had to weld a tear in the frame, from the distortion caused by the tension I placed on it all when I shortened the front and rear of the frame.... now everything had gone completely tits up after that session, the floor frame and the chassis have about 25mm diagonal distortion.... Nicola was on hand to tell me to stop worrying about that, and get on with the build, as the Grizz-Pod body will be on top of the floor frame which is true, and most people are not as anal as what I am, so I have fixed the floor to the chassis without correcting the distortion. She also gets the extra 25mm on her side ;D ;D ;D

I have also fitted the spare wheel carrier now as once the floor frame is bolted in, I do not want to get back in there to fix it all in.
Image

The floor feels "small" when I lie on it, but then it is a Teardrop, not an 8 berth ;)
Image

Because I only started on the trailer after lunch at about 1.30pm, I took it easy, not starting any big jobs.

My cook, chief bottlewasher and general helper was sitting out like Little Red Riding Hood with her E-Book that I got for her for her birthday, (Best prezzie I ever gave, she uses it every day wherever she goes) reading while I worked and popped up when I needed a hand. To me this is great, sharing the time together, while I build.
Image

OK.... back to the present.

Remember this half door I bought last year ?
Clad in patterned ally.
Image

Today I looked at dismantling it, as I do not want it to look different from the rest of the smooth painted plywood sides of the trailer when it is done.
Initially it seemed like a potential fail, then I got a small crowbar, and a large flat screwdriver.

Nicola cleaned out the old glue and grot in the frame while I cut a thin veneer of plywood, beltsanded both the old and new sides, and got the edges down a bit, so that everything will fit inside the ally edgeing.

Image

Image

Nothing like a tight fit ;D

Image

Couple of coats of varnish, then reassemble tomorrow morning.

Oh, and first Bootfair of the year tomorrow morning... Woohoooo ! Bargain hunting.

Finished the door this morning, no bootfairs as all the places were rained out, and the soil too wet.

Silicone between the layers of wood and around the edge, should help with waterproofing too.

Image

The wood will ultimately still get 2 layers of possibly white Dulux enamel, to go with the patern/design I have planned, as shown early in the thread.
So do not look at what it looks like right now.

Weather did not help much, but I did get one rims bits prepared for the Anglia..

Anyway, I did not do as much as expected over the weekend, but I did do quite a lot of odd jobs and other bits between the weather and getting to know this build again.
I am literally getting to know the trailer, and my modified measurements again.
Today Nicola input some more of her views as well, and rather than going with a seperate Window on both sides, I have cut an apperture into the door itself, and will replicate on the other side.
This looks a whole load better than having the window seperate and behind the door.

Placement.

Image

Refined.
Mudguard there to get door placement right as well.
Looks like I will not be using the two double glazed windows I bought for too much money before, instead I will have 4 small windows cut in perspex or polycarbonate to fit the portholes.
Image

No going back now.
Next weekend I will start measuring and cutting the fillets, and hopefully the cross battens and maybe even make up the roof vent frame.
Till then.... Tally Ho !!

Today I was again doing things that one cannot see in a report, like driving 7 miles to a hardware shop that I know keeps belts for my beltsander, they are 560mm , and most big places like B&Q and Homebase do not keep them.

I also had the bulkhead cut, which I decided to do in 18mm Ply. As it is a structural member in my view.
Toward afternoon I started getting things done.
The hole in the floor for underfloor storage is now cut, and sealed from the outside, and the floor is screwed down on the frame, so it means the build now has to just be done at whatever pace I can get on with it.

Bigger news is that all the fillets for the cabin are now cut, we have visitors over tonight so i stopped a bit earleir than planned, but at least I can sand and prep them tomorrow, and then glue and clamp them all in place.
WOOHOOO !!
I feel that this is a pivotal point, because next up will be the bulkhead and spars fitted.

Nicola took a photo of my health and safety defying woodwork..... cutting the fillets down.

Tomorrow morning it is bootfairs to look for bargains and stuff....

Then in the afternoon, back to the teardrop.

Hi Miriam,

Not sure whether I should make my excuses, or just plough ahead regardless.

The reason I post as I post is that I post on various sites, and tend to do the write up on Retro-Rides, and then copy and paste and edite as appropriate for the various sites I post onto.
I would need to edit all the photos and post a 2nd set to get them to the right size to fit smaller formats.

Hope that makes sense.

Have to say, I was accutely aware of the string and tempted to cut it off, but then, the zipper on my overall self destructed today, which is why I was not wearing it.
The hoody is part of my "garage clothes wardrobe" and has a function too.... illustrated in the photo below 8)

After your comments I have now gone and tied them up short, and in future would use some masking tape to "do up the face part" if I cannot get the knots undone.
