CPES

Postby Alfred » Sat Apr 10, 2010 3:01 pm

Hey Gang,

Beautiful Spring Saturday afternoon here in the mountains of Western NC. Sun is shining, robins flying about, apple trees are blooming. What a great day to pull the camper out of the garage and start painting on some CPES!

Image

Took a break for a few minutes, took a few pictures...I kept the kids away while I was applying the epoxy, due to the fumes and mess, but he jumped in to get in the picture...

Here you can see the 1/2 that is coated, because it makes the wood darker.
Image

CPES is some sticky, smelly, splashes around messy stuff, but that's OK as long as it keeps the camper weatherproof!

I'll keep y'all posted as to the progress!

Al in Asheville

Hey Sharon,

I would love to have it at least camp-able for the Raccoon Holler, NC gathering toward the end of May, but I do not know if that is a reasonable goal. I still need to get the hatch on, get the doors on, install the bunk bed and get it painted.

Otherwise, by Summer anyway. I absolutely have to get it done this season, before the kids outgrow it!

CEPS Progress

Postby Alfred » Sat Apr 10, 2010 6:12 pm

Hey Gang,

OK, well I got the whole thing covered with epoxy, except for the back hatch and the doors (which are not on the camper yet), need to detail a few areas. Looks like a couple of places may need a 2nd coat, too. Still, a lot of progress today.

Addendum - Noticed a problem with the luan having some cracks in the outer veneer, after the CPES started setting. Started a new thread related to this concern here:

Hatch Mounted 4/17/2010

Postby Alfred » Sat Apr 17, 2010 8:23 pm

Hey Gang,

Worked on the camper today. David from the T&TTT group came over and helped. We got the back hatch mounted and also put the window in one of the doors.

Here is the hatch mounted on the hinge:

Here is the door, not mounted yet, but put in place for an idea of what it will look like:

So we made some progress this beautiful Spring day...

The Holler

Steve

Hey Steve,

I've got reservations the 'holler, but I don't know if I will bring the camper yet, I can't imagine it would be finished in the next four weeks, short of divine intervention. I do have it sealed with the CPES. If the weather is no chance of rain, I might bring it as-is, keep it under the EZ-Up Canopy, just to show to everyone in progress.

Otherwise, more likely scenario is we will tent camp or sleep in the van again! Either way, we are planning to attend. We got the callback from the campground confirming the reservation, this morning.

More info about the Spring gathering at the 'Holler, here:

See y'all there!
