It's now official! Big thanks to Caseydog for sending me the file to get the vinyl cut. It's exactly what I wanted, very similar to the Chevrolet script used on the early 60's Impalas/ Biscaynes. It has badging on the front and rear, and will also get a small one in white on the teal that hasn't been painted on the sides yet. Doug

I was actually thinking about this yesterday, and was thinking about sending a PM to ask if you were able to get the file cut. You must have gotten vibes from my thoughts.

It looks good in vinyl -- but would look REALLY cool cut out of steel and chromed. $>

When I win the lottery, I'll send you a set in chromed steel. Don't hold your breath waiting.

It's Official ...

Hi Mr. Doug: It is now official. The "Sierra Nomad" lives. You can't turn back now and call it something else even if you wanted to. Those name scripts are burned into the aluminum forever. I like the font caseydog came up with. It is fitting. I can't wait to see it in person.
Very, very nice work. Just don't let that go to your head. If you do, make sure you don't stand up too fast. LOL

Sunday Update:

I got the door pretty much finished up, skinned both sides with the aluminum, screen door is mated to it, 1/8" aluminum strap flange with the weatherstripping. Still need to weld up the extra flaps on the hinge for the screen portion.

Steve E came by this morning and we buttoned up the bottom edge of the front and the rear, got all 8 windows installed and butyled up, and I built a hot fire in the garage so the butyl will squish and seal well.

I also played around with some ideas on the paint job on it. Don't know what I'll do on the front of the side yet, but I like the rear portion. It's only temporary, tape isn't exact paint lines. I can't do a full wrap with paint, since the break lines on the 2 sides aren't exactly the same and it would show in the front...whoops! Oh well. Doug

Doug, I like the smile in the rear, should get some positive reactions on the road.
Side layout looks great too. Where is the DougCraft going? :D Danny

Thanks for the feedback Danny....I thought it looked too much like a smile but thought I'd see what people thought....The jury is still out on that one. If I come up with something else...it's gone. Doug

I like the side graphic. What about the same on the rear but double ended coming from the middle? May be start it around the top of the license plate??? Just a thought.

Almost every car manufactured today has a smile on the front. You might as well greet the smiles coming on the road from behind. Greet a smile with a smile. :D

For what it is worth, I think the smile looks great.
Still graced with two eyes and ten fingers (due in no small part to luck!).

Just when you think a problem is solved, an uglier result replaces it.

Cool plate! Can you license it with that plate? I like the sides, the back is a little sketchy. Reminds me of a Tex Avery cartoon...

Doug, you did get quite a bit done rather than freezing your buns off up at the Glyphs... (it was nice down south in Az where we were)

Rather than the smile, maybe something to echo the table leg or the humming bird from inside.

Doug, all I can say is the average person seeing that rolling down the road or sitting in a campground will never believe it is homebuilt. You're gonna have to carry an album with you to prove it! Simply awesome. 8) 8) 8)
