Hi, I am Sally, I live North of Columbus and grew up camping. I have seen teardrops and similar trailers and find them fascinating. I hope someday to have one, or make one. This site has had me riveted today, very interesting information! Thanks for letting me on the group...Sally

Hi Sally
Welcome to the fun. You will meet a lot of very nice people on here from all over the country.
Pack up your tent and come over to Indiana May 20-23. They are a great group of folks. The Ohio group is great too. Their spring camping date just did not line up with my work tho.
There will be a lot of tears to look at at both get-togethers.
Hope to see you by the fire this year.

Erv

PS If you go to the Midwest forum you will see all the dates for camping this year.

Hi, thanks for the welcome:) We had a pop up and sold it to a friend, we now as you thought, have tents...I grew up both tent and trailer camping. My dad bought a small travel trailer shell and built the interior and added a stove, sink and icebox. It slept 6 snugly:) Sally--probably can't make the May date as we may go on vacation in June, so not much time off for hubby in the interim. I will be checking for tears everywhere I go, though;) thanks!

Hi Sally since none of the other Ohio folks have mentioned it, you may want to join the Buckeye Tearjerkers and perhaps join us at one of the gatherings. This is also a way to see what your options are in buying or building.

SE Ohio has some beautiful, wild parks(Wayne National Forest is huge). Burr Oak is gorgeous.
Thanks, I will check into Buckeye Tearjerkers.
I actually have a trailer frame for hauling my scooter(Vespa)that could be a possible teardrop starter.
I didn't mention, but besides the building of an interior in a travel trailer shell, my dad made a sort of 'chuckwagon" trailer from his own ideas I think, it was a square trailer not for sleeping in, but a command center with multiple storage areas and a place to cook that had a flip up lid and pullout. I was always fascinated by how trailers fit so many things in, and the Tears are fabulous at putting a lot in a tiny space-I spent hours on here yesterday checking a lot of your trailers out, amazing!!!!. My dad began my fascination with his various projects(also redid a Cushman mail truck and built a few minibikes, etc.. He was always tinkering, I wish I had his ability. Sally

We hit a number of the Ohio State Parks including a couple down south last summer and plan on doing more this summer. Nancy is a fourth grade teacher and Ohio history is part of what she is teaching so we did a number of the mound builder sites.

You can also check out Tearjerkers (up there in the menu) for more information on the Buckeye Chapter!
