Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

Hi everyone,
We just bought our first teardrop that needs to be restored. We pretty much have no clue, but love that we are joining this very unique and fun subculture. Our trailer is a 1957 SPCN 12' (CT Body type). The VIN # is DR634481T. This is a pop top trailer that I can't seem to find any info on at this point. Any help from you pros would be great. What does SPCN mean? Haha thank you and glad to be here.

Welcome to the board and the wild & wacky world of teardrops. You won't find any information on your teardrop. SPCN in California stands for Special Construction given by DMV (department of Motor Vehicles). So most likely it is a home built in California. I don't know what the CT for body tyoe stands for. Could be for Camp Trailer. :thinking:

Meant to ask. Do you have any more pictures of it? You can upload them into your own album here. And boy if you got the time off, there's going to be a gathering at Lake Shasta the end of this month. I think there is going to be a couple of teardrops coming out of Idaho. :thumbsup:

Gage, we are definitely eager for our first gathering, but I suspect it will be a little bit. We are slowly taking her apart and replacing some of the wood and rebuilding the pop-top roof. I'll upload some photos soon.

Our Teardrop is 6' wide. I'll post more pics, but the roof pops up to 7' so you can stand up in it. Also, the bed turns into a 4 person seated table. There is a small closet in the nose of the trailer. The back has the galley with an original icebox. We want to try and maintain this design, but would like to add some windows and need to rebuild the roof system. We feel pretty lucky to have acquired this for $200. Guess it was meant to be!

Yep, good buy. And there is nothing wrong with adding windows. It's just considered an upgrade. :thumbsup:
