2nd weekend of work- update 4/30

Postby dreadcptflint » Mon Apr 19, 2010 12:16 am

I have been squeezing in work on my trailer between weather and watching the little dude.

I got the panel in today and it is looking good. I was able to attach the front into the 2 X 2 strut so it is locked in solid. I added silicon around the pads and underneath the footing.

If everything holds then I will be finishing the front platform and doing the wiring next weekend.

:applause:  Really good. I wonder if you can get an energy credit for that.

Unfortunately, Miriam I get no tax credits for it. Yes, I checked really hard to see if I could swing a few more dollars for some extra stuff. I went down to the county level. If you are going to do solar then you might as well check: http://www.dsireusa.org/

I am still awaiting for my electrical and battery box to show up so I can see how well this works.

(Let's try this again...)

How many watts' output is that solar panel on your teardrop?

Thanks.

The panel is 135 watts. It's a Kyocera. I bought it as part of a kit. http://www.eco-distributing.com/RV-Roof-Mount-Solar-Kit-with-Kyocera-135watt-Panel_p_623.html . The charge controller is pretty basic. Well, let's be honest I ran out of money but, I have a few things that I want to add to it including upgrading the controller to a MPPT in the next couple of years.

I have been sneaking in more work on the trailer.

Today, I was able to finish off the under coating.

Yes, Gage is a genius. It is rubbery and very easy to apply. I did two coats on the underside and will probably crawl under the trailer and use the rest up when I get a chance this summer.

I might make this deadline yet.

More progress

Postby dreadcptflint » Fri Apr 30, 2010 10:03 pm

Ok, here is what we are looking at now:

Image

Image

The old battery box was removed. The screws had to be cut free since a couple had sheared off. New wiring was run to the new box so the battery is now functional.

I have to wire in the solar panel, secure the battery, repaint and clean up.
