We stayed in a cabin out there last year for a family reunion but never saw the lake. I like the area though and it wasn't too far for me (watch out for the small town speed zones tho).

April is prime camping time so I will see what I can do, I am working boo koo overtime now so hopefully that will pay for it!

Evidently, Lake Whitney is a very popular place. I called this morning to make my reservatation. The lines were busy so they let you pick a call-back time. It would only accept a time of 2:30pm. They called me back at 3:30PM. I just found out a few minutes ago that they do not have any more water and electric sites, only water sites for that weekend. I called the actual park and they said that they show ac sites still available..., but that the state office should know. Hate to do it, but I really don't want to camp w/o electricity. :(

Slight change in plans. The park did not have any more water & electric sites so we booked a screened shelter. They will let us park our TDs at the shelters. So if anyone comes looking for us that weekend we will be in the shelter area & not the rv sites. The shelters have water & 20 amp electric service.

I'll miss you guys but have planned another camping trip back at Beavers Bend that weekend. After telling my kids about how pretty the park was, we all decided to do a big family camp out there. I managed to book our sites in the same area we were in back in March.
Lake Whitney sounds like a good place and we would have liked to have made the trip.

Looks like we might have a little bit of rain on Friday but looks great for the rest of the weekend.

Tammy has to work part of Friday so I'm going there Fri. morning to get our spots and then come back home to pick her up.

Todah, what time do you think you'll get to the park?

Woodie,

My plans are to leave around 9:30 or 10 am after the traffic through Ft. Worth has passed. That should get me there around 12:30 or 1. Otherwise, I would have to leave at 5AM to beat the massive traffic going through Ft. Worth.

Check your PM; there may be an alternative to your having to make 2 trips.

4/23/2010 - Lake Whitney Journal

It's 11:55 pm and it has been hailing. Blessfully, the Teardroppers retreated to their respective campers before all hail broke out! :D

Note to self: Don't camp in hail storm. :D

Just joking. Actually, the tapping of the hail on the roof is quite soothing. It will be interesting to see if there is any damage in the morning.

It's now raining very heavily. Makes for great sleeping weather!

Signing Off,

Todah
