7-pin?

I just got a '06 Pathfinder.
Anyone have one? Where can you get a factory harness for 7-pins?
I have a prodigy controller. I want to have a flat-4 along with the 7-pin.
I'm gonna finally hook up the brakes on the 'Rondack.

I recommend against using U-haul to install, they ignored the Subaru factory wiring harness and did a typical 3M quick connect to tail light wires it was a butcher job and promptly failed and the plug attached to the plastic bumper cover fell off. I had Camping World install our brake controller and seven prong plug.

If you want a 7 pin connector and harness look at most "trailer supply" sites on internet.... There are several companies that make harness's that fit most vehicles.... Many you can install your self.....

IF you want a 7 pin and can not find one, cut off 4 pin plug/socket and replace it with 7 pin plug/socket and add whatever wiring from brake controller and or battery charging as necessary....

Hey Steve

I've got an 06 Fronteer, Probably the same vehicle. Your almost forced into getting a Factory wiring harness.

And its pretty weird how it all hooks up too.

Most of the work and connections are on the passengers side????

I've been wiring vehicles for years and unfortunately these vehicles...and many others are considered "Smart Car/trucks".

Which in this situation means if there is a heavier amp draw on a line.....like an extra light from, oh lets say a trailer, the line will simply shut down, so it won't blow a fuse.

I liked it better when cars/trucks were dumb.

When I was looking for my harness the only reliable place was at the dealer. Anywhere else I looked knew as little as I did about them.

I would recommend the factory wiring harness also. I once got a factory wiring harness for a Dodge Dakota. It had all the proper connections and went all the way from the back to the front of the vehicle, very heavy duty. All the wires were the right gauge and length, fit like a glove. It also came with a relay that I had to install in the fuse block and make the required connections. It took several hours to install, but well worth it. I never had any problems with it and it certainly was not a butcher job.

I searched Nissan factory and found that I still needed to wire the brakes to the TV. So, I ordered this
It's the same thing I used on my old TV. This will allow me to still tow trailers with a flat four or one with brakes and aux power.

With the advent of computers in cars they can monitor all sorts of stuff. My Ford van will tell me when a lightbulb is burned out. I think they do this by wiring the lights so the bulb is "HOT" all of the time. They turn it on and off by switching the ground. If the the computer doesn't see 12 volts on the ground side of the bulb when the bulb is off, the bulb is burned out and it triggers a warning light.

You can't just splice into the wiring of a vehicle so configured as it may damage the vehicle in some way or another. There are special OEM modules or aftermarket modules that allow you to connect a trailer. Be sure to see if your vehicle needs one. My brother's Toyota Land Cruiser uses one also.
