Has any one ever seen a stove like this? A buddy of ours Ed bought this WW2 stove this weekend. I appears to never have been fired up before. On the top of the stainless steel lid is a US and the medics symbol. I suspect it was made for field use. Any idea's?

This looks like a Coleman model 523 surgical instrument sterilizer.
If it is it is from the mid 50's.

An in the box 523 is a real find. If it's unfired is even more so. Your friend did very well Dawn. VERY well.

He's bugging me to find out what it's worth. I don't have a clue. He also want's me to fire it up for him this weekend. Not sure I want to do that. It appears to never have been lit before. He only paid $20 for it, I think that it's worth more than that.

If he is planning on sellng it, dont fire it up. Unfired it is worth MUCH more. Dont know what they are worth, but they have had a few on ebay that sold, but I never really looked at the prices because I never had one to compare it to. Cant hurt to look tho. I know its worth more than $20! I know I'd go at least $25!

I was just at the Coleman Forums and someone else just bought one like it. Apparently they are going for $125+ on epray. I am going to try to talk him out of firing it up.
